Does this sound right? Because my losses due to Hurricane exceeded my income, they're giving me the whole shebang back?

Maybe. I recorded a 1700 loss and turbotax gave me about a 400 tax cut from it.

Did your insurance reimburse you for your loss? If not then it probably is right.

Wait, wait, wait...

You can deduct Ike expenses?? I replaced my back fence in October for about $3,500. I didn't file an insurance claim.
