Tax Question

    I noticed I have a really old W2 form from 2007 that i havent filed yet... I've already filed this year's w2, can i file AGAIN for the 2007 one...? i tried calling irs but they put me on a 31 minute hold.... any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    File again? You've already filed for 2007? You would need to amend your return. 1040X. The statute of limitations is 3 years from the date of filing so I think you have until April 15th, 2011.

    no i havent filed for the 2007 w2, i have filed last years jan 09 and this year's jan 10". But not the 07 one... what do you mean by i have to amend my return? like give them back my current return?

    You can file your 2007 return. You will have to paper file though.

    How much did you make?

    Do you just want to file 2007 because you're trying to get some of a refund back?

    I thought there were penalties for late returns if you dont file an extension (and those are only 6 months right?)

    I was in the military and was injured, i had the w2s sent home to my parents from san diego with the intentions of doing them as soon as i can actually get out of the hospital. I completely forgot it until i saw the envelope when i tried helping my mom out with their tax returns.

    Yes, so long as you are getting a refund (which it sounds like you are) you don't really have anything to worry about with penalties, etc...
