Anyone familiar with FREE online services for 1099-MISC tax returns? I am basically looking for something that is free since I do not have a regular W-2 form so H&R Block is apparently no longer willing to provide a free federal tax return service for that, which they did last year (It is $30 this year, unfortunately ) If not free, then please suggest the next cheapest service available for those filing 1099-MISC federal tax returns.
Just pay the $30. You could easily cost yourself more than that if you do not know what you are doing and try to do it yourself by hand or something. Your 1099-Misc goes on Schedule C (or C-EZ).
I will if I have to as a last resort, thought I would ask first though. I am self-employed and I make peanuts, $30 is not a small charge for a tax return. GOD I wish we had a damn flat tax or something so we can sidestep this annual nightmare
So you are paying self employment tax? try filing yourself... http://www.irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=118986,00.html
Well, mine should be quite simple and straight forward. I do not have a lot of deductions outside of the regular bills and purchases which I have already tallied, and perhaps interest accrued on my student loans. I dont have a W-2 either or any dependents, so I assume I will be responsible for the payroll taxes (medicare/social security) and was told I might qualify for that poverty credit or whatever it is called LOL! If after all that the IRS still comes after me, then I say BRING IT, it is not like they will be able to get anything out of me anyways
yeah Not only that, but I am paying almost double the medicare/social security tax than if I had been issued a W-2. Even the extremely poor gotta pay taxes in America HAHAHA! I can't complain.
Are you Asian? I got mine done at this place on Scarsdale. I had 2 1099's and a W2 and he only charged me $60 bucks. Hell of a deal. Edit: I didn't mean anything when I asked if you were Asian.
Thanks for this, I am using it now! I am still working on it, but I died a little inside after I filled out the Income portion of the tax return and found out my self-employment tax portion was $1450 ... here is hoping my deductions will ease up that pain a little bit.
Unless you deduct everything. I'm self employed and only have 1099 MISC's to report. In the end, my taxes only ended up being 4% of my income.
Is that for everything?! (self-employment/medicare/social security) I do have deduction, I am working through them right now. That $1500 has been halved to $750 as we speak. Still hoping to do better!
Scarsdale. Southeast side. Between Almeda Mall and Bay Brook mall. Forgot the name of the place though. It's in that shopping center on the left hand side when you exit Scarsdale.
