"Aside from a brief dalliance with a goatee earlier this season, Allen has stayed
true to his clean cut image and plans to keep it that way.

Suffice to say there won't be any Allen sightings at Milwaukee's tattoo
    parlors.

``I have a friend in Connecticut whose father used to be a sailor and had
tattoos all over him, and you look now and you can't see any of his tattoos
because his skin has started to be affected by gravity,'' he said. ``Now they
just look like blurs on his body, and he said if he had to do it all over again he
    wouldn't do it.''

Imagine that, a young NBA star wise enough to realize the long-term
consequences of body art. There aren't many left in this year's NBA playoffs,
but Allen is one of them. "

This is only my personal opinion and taste. I think that most people with tattoos look kind of trashy. I am not saying they are, I just say that I don't like the way it looks and I would never do it. It also does not appear to be a mere coincidence that players who have tattoos all over like Rodman or Iverson are more often in trouble than players like Ray Allen who are tattoo-free.

If you look at NBA players, how many percent of them do have tattoos? Probably something like 80 %? Are there any Rockets players who do NOT have tattoos?

What is your opinion? Do you like tattoos? Am I wrong for being somewhat "prejudiced" about people with tattoos?

I think it all depends on where you get one and what you get. I don't see myself getting one. I find that most tattoos are trashy. I think a small tattoo on chics in a remote place on their body is kinda sexy, but if they have a huge one, i find it pretty trashy.

Britney Spears has a tattoo of a fairy on the base of her spine. Very HOT!

I read somewhere that about 60% of NBA players have tattoos, versus 5% of the whole rest of the population. I agree that most of them don't look good, but small ones in appropriate places don't necessarily look trashy.

    Smokey,

If you look at Britney Spears at her base and say her fairy is VERY HOT.....then in my book, you are a fairy...

    Good one heyp! [IMG]

Sorry I didn't clarify. I thought you could figure out that I was giving an example of what Space Ghost was talking about. The tattoo of a fairy isn't hot. It's the fact that its a small tattoo in a remote location which I find HOT!

This is only my personal opinion and taste. I think that most people with mullets like Detlef Schrempf look kind of trashy. I am not saying they are, I just say that I don't like the way it looks and I would never do it. It also does not appear to be a mere coincidence that rednecks who have mullets like Randy Travis Tritt are more often in trouble than rednecks like Garth who are mullett free.

Personally, I don't mind the tatoos on NBA players -- I actually think they look really good. Although I'm just waiting for one to sell advertising space on an arm to nike or reebok . . .

I don't think Hakeem has a tatoo. I don't think Bullard, Langhi, Collier have them either.

I bet Langhi has a tattoo.

I always wanted to put a bar code tattoo on the back of my neck, like a barcode for a box of condoms or something, that would be rad.

this homeless guy in austin, who hangs out on the drag. he has a tatoo on his face. i saw a guy at a club one time he had a big green star on his forehead.
i think cartoon characters and women with big tatoos on the side of their arms are pretty trashy. But i think Iversons look bad@ss. you can have alot and still look good. tommy lee looks kind of cool. the jury is still out on cherokee parks. i liked carlos rogers'. eminem has some cool tatoos.
you just have to be careful, like someone already said, of what you get and where you get it. but i think even if you get as many as allen iverson you can still look good.

I think tatoos look cool. I'm too much of a needle-weinie to get one, but I've considered it. My wife has one around her ankle and nearly every person I know has one or has at least considered one.

I don't really find them trashy, however, when you start covering large portions of your body with them, it does begin to get sideshow-esque. That's a pretty small minority though.

I wouldn't say trashy, it is just a stupid haircut that doesn't really look cool...but I think it takes balls to run around like that for many years [IMG].

I don't really feel that way Det, I just had to make a dumb joke since I have a big-arse tattoo covering my shoulder/chest/abs and back (an octopus).

No harm, no foul though. [IMG]

Jeff, I totally understand the 'needle wienie' comment. I don't know how many times I can postpone a couple of touchups. Ribs hurt.

Or Jessica Alba's from Dark Angel -- (looking for picture right now)

What's interesting, is that she really does have a tatoo right there -- it's not a barcode though:

Yeah man, I'd love to get a barcode on my neck.

I never heard of that game before though, I just think it would be badass. I'd have to place it lower on my neck so it could be concealed by a shirt collar. I doubt people would want to hire a dude with a barcode on the back of his neck...

An old wise friend of mine, asked why the hell I put those things on my body? That, when I'm his age (60+) they'll be all faded and it won't even be visably clear.
Funny, but I see old men, old sailors or whatever and their old tattos from the war and I simply love them faded! I wish to live so old to have faded tattoos! Its just a matter a aesthetics. What you like to see or not. They simply facinate me, they are surreal, they have nothing to do with how I would treat you as a human being, don't be fooled by the skin, its only skin!

I have two, a Longhorn on my right bicep and a Native American design on my left.

Needless to say, since they're on my biceps, they are somewhat small... (rimshot)
