I've considered getting a tattoo for years, but wasn't really sure. Part of it was that I wanted to get back to a normal weight before doing it. Anyway, anyone have any places they would recommend having it done in Houston? Not sure when I'm going to do it or what I'm getting, but I figured I'd start researching.
I've also wanted one for years, but haven't done it yet. Two suggestions from all my inked-up buddies: 1) Do what you're doing now and continue to find recommendations for an artist, preferrably with seeing first-hand examples of his work. and 2) Make sure you think about what you want. In other words, get something that has importance and relevance for you. Don't get something trendy just for the sake of getting a tattoo. That's it, man. Good luck.
I wouldn't get one, because if you decide later that it was a bad idea, you're basically stuck with the damn thing. If you really want to do it, however, I'd get one in an intimate place, where someone would have to know you rather well to see it, or you'd have to be at a nude beach. (which is cool!) And I would get the very highest quality, something very artistic and small. Good luck!
I have few tattoos but i didnt get them done in houston. seattle and london, kentucky make sure you find a good artist!! take quality over price 24/7 know what you want before you go talk to the artist about his vision of the tattoo my girlfriend got one from this guy on the seawall after we searched artists for a few months. his work is amazing. he took a simple sketch that my girlfriend wanted and made a peice of art. mainly free hand also. if you want to know his name ill ask my girlfriend. but definetly talk to more than 5 artists.
one more thing.. the spot it depends if you want to show it off, look at it a lot, keep it hidden from business associates, etc. i have mine on the back of my arm but high enough that a short sleeve shirt will cover them. i have been planning on getting another one sometime soon, so if you find an artist let me know
TATTOO? NEVER. Just a faster way to be "identified..." just like back when I... oh, crap, who turned the BLUR off my face? Damn lousy secret interviews...
Ok, a few things to understand here... First, I have considered one for YEARS. Because of a back injury and some sheer laziness on my part, I was overweight for a while. Over the past six months, I've been getting back into shape (in fact, I've dropped almost 30 pounds and gone from a 38 waist to a 33) and basically said that I wouldn't get one until I was in decent shape so it doesn't get all morphed and freaky either from losing or gaining weight. It's something I've wanted for a while. Second, I do not have any concerns about social stigmas. I mean, I've been wearing my hear long (at one point, all the way to my waist line) since I was 18 years old. I don't do corporate, traditional, etc. and everyone knows this. I wouldn't change that about myself. Most of the people I know who work in creative fields (music, design, etc) have them already. Third, I'm pretty sure of what I'm going to get and I basically know how I want it to look. Fourth, I really just need artist and location recommendations more than anything. That's pretty much it. I'm not at all worried about the permanence. I wouldn't consider it if I was. It's going on my bicep - pretty standard.
I got one when I was 18. Looking back, I don't regret getting it, just wish I would have gotten something that meant something to me. I've just got a red sun with a black center right above my right ankle. Yeah, it's pretty gay looking.
