Restricted free agent Tari Eason has agreed to a five-year, $81.5 million deal to return to the Houston Rockets, sources tell ESPN. The deal is fully guaranteed for Eason.

Stone should just handle the renegotiation. It’s seemingly the only thing he does well.

Maybe it’s a trade off for the lower overall number. I imagine the 5 years was Eason hedging his injury history

Last season it was 20 million per year, now it’s 16. This is a good thing. Positive asset on the contract, no long wait, Tari agreed, no matching an offer, all good things. Now we have a bit extra to play with.

Honestly, this was my first thought. Tari has very high highs but also low lows. Then there’s his injury history.

But the contract isn’t horrible and should be tradable in the future

I think it's great. We can keep him at a good contract or trade him at a good contract. We didn't lose him for nothing and when he's not hurt he's pretty good on our team. $15ish mil for a starting level NBA player is pretty damn good.

Honestly, a really good deal all around. Good value for the Rockets, and a good amount of guaranteed money for Eason.

Good value contract that allows the Rockets to trade him at any time.

I didn't want Tari back but since Stone has done nothing of any consequence before today, this is a good signing.

Prediction: He won't finish two years of this contract before being traded.

Seems to have worked out well for both sides in the end -- good deal for a good role player.
