I no it is way to early, but it is obvious we need three starters T-Mac and Yao great best at their position every other starter sucks. So even when make it to the playoffs we will get kicked out in the first round two guys cannot carry twelve. Van Gundy doesn't have the brains to play or start Luther Head. We good get a lottery pick, sign Peja and possibly since Head will be in his second year he good get minutes.
Whoa dude, I would chill on that. I know the team is sucking now and trying to gel, but I don't give up on the season. Remember last year? You sir are no Rockets fan.
head just started last game and played 33 min... there are 11 rooks playing more minutes than him....
Actually, I'm about as diehard a fan as they come(I watched loyally throughout the Steve Francis dribbleball years), but there is a legit argument to be made for sitting T-Mac out for an extended period and tanking for a high lottery pick if the team continues to struggle into the new year. Obviously this is a discussion that needs to be had after December when we get a better feel for this team's prospects. How serious is T-Mac's back injury? Are the guards in a shooting slump or do they just suck? Does Luther Head have a future as at least a consistent scoring threat off the bench? Is Stromile Swift the answer at the 4? Will Bob Sura be able to come back from his knee surgery? There's no need to jump ship right now. Remember, the Rockets were 6-10 last November with an easier schedule and a fully healthy T-Mac. They managed to turn things around and win 51 games. But if they're not at least flirting with .500 by late December/early January, it may be time to consider pulling a '96-'97 Spurs and go for the high draft pick.
unfornunately there isn't a tim duncan in this year's draft, i mean i think the top rated prospect so far is rudy gay from uconn, i dunno about yall but i dont see him saving us
Question is: is it worth it? From www.nbadraft.net, it looks like next year's draft won't be too exciting. Right now Rudy Gay would be the first pick
The Tim Duncan strategy. Ok, fine. So...who you going to draft? I'm assuming it's a true power forward - the hardest thing to get later. Are there any coming up? Maybe you could dump Howard and Alston for 1 of the Hawks 3s. They don't really need Al Harrington - they overpaid given they drafted 2 more guys that play the same. He could help. Put Tmac at the 2 and firm up the backcourt, with AH helping defend and board from the 3. Tank the season, play Head and Swift for learning time, draft a true 4, bring in VSpan. Just playing the idea out there, die-hards. Chill. EDIT - wow - just checked that nbadraft.net - they have LaMarcus Aldridge and Daniel Gibson in the lottery. Those guys would be sweet. Go Horns.
Great. Tank the season, get the first pick, and then we have Gay and Head on the squad. Pity the announcers if that happens.
3-8 and you want to throw the season? Comon man, did you want to last year after the 6-11 start as well? No matter how bad they look, no season is over after 11 games. They'll probably lose to the Mavericks too, but after that game it'll still be too early to give up on the season. Relax, have patience, once McGrady is 100%(hopefully soon), everything will return to normal. Not only that, but they did add 4 new players to their rotation, takes a while for everything to gel after a overhaul like that. Same thing happened last year when the Rockets didn't go over .500 for good until January 2nd. Until then, it might be ugly, but it's still November. Last time I checked championships are won in June.
Most absurd thing I have ever heard. Texans yes, Rockets no. Just crazy. This thread should be locked.
Actually, I'm thinking this the "best thread in recent years." I mean, tanking the season after 8 games is pretty hilarious.
Now, do you guys think if we had replaced Yao with KG or maybe even Duncan, we could've been much better than now? In this league, no one can do it alone. You need a one-two punch, I remember Shaq said that 5 years ago. Keep hopes up and wake me up when novermber ends.
