I had an interesting conversation with someone today. Thought it be an interesting discussion, here. I talked to a lady, about 50, that said when she was in her mid-30's, she had a massive heart attack. She said the paramedics came, started to do CPR on her, told her kids to leave the room cuz she was going to die, etc., etc. Then she drops the bomb shell. She said something like, "Yeah, I was clinically dead for two minutes." I chose to ignore it, thinking she was crazy. I brought up how my grandmother had a massive heart attack, and had the same thing happen to her. She was clinically dead for two or so minutes, they shocked her, she came back. She'll be at my wedding in three weeks, as a matter of fact (that was 15 years ago). I told the lady that we never told my grandmother that she has died, though. The lady says, "Well, if her experience was anything like mine, I guarantee you, she knows she died!" Because she brought it up again, I asked her: What was your experience like? She told me it was great. I was shocked. She said, all of a sudden, she saw a bright light, all the pain was gone, she was extremely peaceful, and she was talking to someone, but it felt like over a telephone. She said it sounded just like her dad, who is still alive. She said later, she realized it was her uncle (apparently, they sound the same...her uncle and her dad), who had passed a few years before. She repeated that it felt great. Now, I've been around a few people who were dying (my grandfather in particular affected me), and it seems like most either start talking to dead relatives, or at least say they're seeing a light of some sort. My grandfather did both for a few hours before he died. My fiance works as a nurse on a palliative care unit, and reports the same thing all the time. I am utterly fascinated by this. Please share any similar stories, but keep this thing out of the D&D. (Cool story bro....) (Are we still doing that?)
This is what I'm gauging. How do other people feel about this? Does anybody else here, who's had experience with these types of situation, believe that you might see these things? Or do you, (like me) believe that, this is just the mind's way of cleansing itself, and releasing it's last thoughts (you, possibly realizing it is your end, thinking that you are seeing those you care about, who have passed)? I know this question is a borderline D&D type, religion-strafing question, but I'm curious to hear the thoughts of others.
I personally believe that we are speaking to the souls of our loved ones that have gone before us. Some sceptics say it is the last firings of the nuerons in our brains. I like my beliefs better. He has been dead for years. DD
That is very interesting stuff. The human mind Is extremely susceptible to hallucination. Headed to the D&D in 3 2 1 ------------------------
Say what?? Has someone stolen your computer, DD? Oh, and it's neurons. These are neurons, or a scene from Avatar. Take your pick! (nice video, btw!)

I posted about this subject on the D&D in the Hawkins thread. My Aunts friend was in nasty car accident about 10years ago. She was hit by a drunk driver totaling her car, she was pronounced dead for 5 minutes, but was revived but went into a coma. She later recovered and told my aunt that she had the most life changing experience the night of the accident. She said that she was blinded by a bright light then was standing in front of her dead body, she watched as they revived her. There are so many stories, but everyone is always shut down by scientist. It's one of those things you have to experience for yourself to believe it.
My cousin died at 17. This was years ago. I went to see him just before he passed. (my first plane ride) He was very depressed and really didn't have much to say. I remember going away very sad, I was 17 at the time. Twenty-five years later, I received a call from my Aunt's sister who informed me that my aunt had died. We talked for awhile and she asked me if anyone had ever told me about my cousin's "near death" experience. The answer was, no. She then proceeded to tell the most amazing story. Apparently soon after I left, my cousin was sitting up in his bed alone and he said he began to experience movement, he then entered into a tunnel. At the end was a bright light. He said he was terrified until "He took my hand, called his name, and said He would take me through." On the other side he landed in this most beautiful garden. He later described the flowers, plants, their colors and shapes in great detail. He did not want to leave, but "He" called his name and said he would return soon. The next thing he knew, he was sitting awake in the hospital bed. My aunt's sister said that after this experience his attitude completely changed from depression to elation. He told everyone that would listen with great excitement. She said that he had been taken off of his meds to make him more comfortable, so drugs were an unlikely explanation. He told his aunt that the best thing about the experience was that he could see. My cousin was born blind and had never seen flowers, colors, or anything. He was also the most brilliant and skeptical person I have ever met. Soon thereafter he went back to the garden. I believe this story to be true.
I was in a really bad car accident in 1998. I definitely wasnt dead, but I was unconscious. I didnt see anything. I dont remember a dam thing. Sorry I am dissappoint.
My grandmother told me that when she was younger and was in an accident, she found herself looking down at a Doctor working on her. Her grandmother (dead) told her it wasn't time yet and she went back. I'm not sure if its true, a dream, or she made it up, but it apparently was a life changing event for her. When she was passing away many years later, she would talk to her sister (dead) and brother (dead) while my Mom was in her hostpital room. My mom said she was feeling a little funny about it but told her aunt it wasn't time yet and apparently my Grandmother quieted down before she passed the next day. My mother said it was eerie, and she didn't know if my grandmother was dreaming or not, but she certainly wasn't concience for the last few days and was only responding to her sibling who had died many years before. Again, many people think its neurons firing, or hallucinations, or actual spiritual interactions, but anybody that claims to know for sure one way or the other doesn't actually know until they experience it for themselves.
I have told this story before, but it seems appropriate here. When I was 19 years old, I was going to college in Baytown, and had become good friends with a guy named Jet Thompson, we hung out and dipped snuff, went to the drive in, drank beer, chased women etc...all the normal stuff you do as a young man. One day Jet and I were shooting pool, he had just broken up with his girlfriend and he had been depressed. In the middle of the pool match he told me he had finally gotten over it, and was feeling pretty good, and then he said "Yep, I got it all figured out"..... And I was like..."Cool, Jet !" He went home that afternoon and shot himself in the mouth with one of his father's rifles. About a day before the funeral, I had a dream, that I was sitting at a white counter top, dressed in white, and talking with Jet, it was an odd conversation though, he was telling me to tell everyone he was ok, that he was in a better place, and he was finally free and happy.....I knew he was dead etc...then in the middle of the conversation I asked him..."Jet, so what was it like when you die?" He goes..."It was incredible" and just as he was about to describe it, I woke up....it was 3am, and for no reason, I just woke up. To this day, I wonder if I was talking to him, and I was just not supposed to know about what happens when you die...... Anyway, I choose to believe we had that conversation, and I have had many others with dead relatives over the years, particularly my mom.... I believe they are all in a better place. DD
