The Knicks came to Chicago last night. I got a chance to talk to MoT. He seemed somehow annoyed when hearing about the rockets.

I asked him about the trade. MoT said: "Not (disappointed) at all. Shaq got traded. everybody gets traded. Things happen."

what was going on between him and JVG before the AS break? He said: "It's over and I don't wanna talk about that."

He also said he's never talked to any rockets player after the trade. I asked him whether he's going to do the Chinese Kongfu salute to Yao next time. He just smiled and didn't say anything.

Dirk shot horribly againt the bulls this season. I thought Nocioni and Chandler would offer some insight. didn't catch Nocioni tho. Tyson basicly said you have to pressure Dirk every second he's on the floor ... keep a body on him ... give him enough contact and bump ... force him to put the ball on the floor and make him work hard on rebounding and defense.

well. I don't think Tyson was assigned to guard Dirk. It was Deng and Nochi. but Deng doesn't come to the game at all and i didn't catch Nochi.. that's the best i could do.

I hear ya man. :) It's just the ol' "make him work hard for his shots and on D" is such a cliche...everyone knows that, you can apply that to any player, but from your thread title you make it sound like it's some 'unknown' guarded secret that Van Gundy needs to know about right away. LOL.

    Thanks for the share iOrange.
To bad you didn't catch the forwards of the bulls so you could ask them how to guard Dirk. It is just very hard to guard Dirk. But if any coach can find a way of stopping him it is van Gundy

Are you implying we play hard nosed defense against Dirk? That's just crazy talk! That's not VanGundy's style at all! :D

Short of shooting the guy in his kneecap the only way to slow Dirk is to smother the Point (or whomever is handling the ball).

Smother the point? The problem is we lose the point guard matchup big time. If we had Terry and they had Sura, we would be a significant favorite in this series. Jason Terry worries me a lot because he has been money for the Mavs.

The way you take care of him is you cut the back of his hamstring...he'll quit the game.

The old horsehead in the bed trick might work. Or since he's German, 50 pounds of wienerschnitzel.

Coach can't play on the court after all. Rockets just don't have the right defensive PF to contain Dirk.
Look his stat vs Rockets this season:
    34.3pt on 49.3% shooting, 11rb, 2.3blk
    Comparing to his season average
    26.3pt on 46.0% shooting, 9.7rb, 1.1blk
And then his season's stat vs Bulls
    24.0 on 28.6% shooting, 10.5rb, 0.5blk
Obviously, Bulls did a much better job on Dirk. But do you think it was because Skiles is a much better defensive coach than JVG?
Of course not, it was because Bulls has the right defensive player._

Actually if you remember his 53point game, we were leaving him WIDE OPEN for 3's time and time and time again (especially in the first half). I would hope that in the series he will at least have to work to get open and work to get every shot off, which should severely affect his performance.

The fact that iOrange interviewed MoT and Chandler in person is impressive regardless of what he had to report. The fact that Chandler said something that is cliche is a reflection on Tyson, not on iOrange.

Thanks for the report, and keep us updated!'

This is exactly the kind of thing that makes this BBS so cool.
