I just saw a news story on that young girl Brittany (SP?) who lost her arm to a shark while surfing. When they wheeled her out of the ER and into surgery, she bumped her dad from the schedule. He was preparing to have knee surgery. Other examples?
When coming out of a movie theater in Houston, I ran into a Mexican girl (from Mexico City) that I had met two years earlier in Cambridge/UK when we were both studying there. When I took the New York Bar Exam, I met a Belgian guy who had been in that same course in Cambridge with me. I ran into an ex-girlfriend from London in some hotel bar in Barcelona. Okay, I'll admit all of that is not close to what happened to that girl and her dad, but all of it made me think that the world is a smaller place than I thought!
At Spring High School where I have been a longterm sub for a lady that is out for the year there is a slight coincidence with the names. Her name is Sara McClain Mine is Chance McClain We are not related. Even stranger I just notified the district that I have accepted a position with Sportsradio 610 I and will not be completing the year I was notified that my replacement's name is John Humprhies. My dad was adopted and my last name should really be Humphries. Weird.
Holy crap! I've caught a shark before, I've been to a movie theater in Houston, and I've driven through Spring before.
You just blew my mind. My ex was best friends with one of my girlfriends from 6th grade. She left after 6th grade and I didn't talk to her again until I met my ex (they met at TCU). Not only that, my ex was in the wedding of two of my friends from high school, before we met.
I played T-ball in Wurzburg, Germany when I was 5 or 6 (1977 or so) and there was one girl on my team. I went to Elsik (Houston)and played in the band starting in 1986. I was there for two years before I realized that my best friend's girlfriend was that very same girl.
My wife and I have the SAME EXACT birthday (year, too). That's one less date I have to remember... If only we got married that day, too. I'd be totally set.
I have a friend. He and his then-girlfriend, now-wife had the same last four digits in their phone number. Their exchange was different... but now it's the same... since they got married!
I had sex with one of my best friend's sister. We are no longer friends, and I am no longer sleeping with his sister.
About 2 years ago I made two new friends, the guy is now my best friend and the girl i was really close to falling in love with. Her birthday is exactly 5 months after mine, and his birthday is 5 months and 5 days before mine.
Back in, oh I'd say 1990, it seemed like the show Perfect Strangers was on the tv non-stop. I mean the re-runs were on all the freakin time. I had to look at Bronson Pinchot's face daily and I was getting sick of it. Then one night a had a bizarre dream (are there any others) starring Bronson Pinchot. For the life of me I can't now remember what happened in the dream, but I know the Bronson Pinchot thing was just nuts. I was getting kind of obsessed with him, and it was driving me insane. Well that same week, My parents asked If I wanted to go to the downtown Houston Thanksgiving Day Parade with them. I obliged, and who do you think was in a convertible waving to the crowd, bringing up the rear of the parade? FREAKIN BRONSON PINCHOT!!! I could not believe it. I just totally started laughing (like you wouldn't anyway), it was great. Seeing him at the parade that day brought some closure to my Pinchot obsessiveness. Now I am proud to say that I am living a Pinchot-free life.
Uh did you make sure you're not long lost twins? ELAINE: No, no.. but it is quite a coincidence. RAVA: Yes, that's all, a coincidence! ELAINE: A big coincidence. RAVA: Not a big coincidence. A coincidence! ELAINE: No, that's a big coincidence. RAVA: That's what a coincidence is! There are no small coincidences and big coincidences! ELAINE: No, there are degrees of coincidences. RAVA: No, there are only coincidences! ..Ask anyone! (Enraged, she asks everone in the elevator) Are there big coincidences and small coincidences, or just coincidences? (Silent) ..Well?! Well?!..
I switched schools several times during Elementary and Junior High. At the first school I went to I had several good friends one of which was a girl that lived around the corner from me. After 3rd grade I moved and lost contact with most of the people I was friends with including her. Fast forward a few years to 7th grade. I moved to a new school that year and became good friends with a guy in my music class. We became pretty good friends until I went to a different high school. We kept in touch during our freshman year but after that I lost contact with him. Fast forward again about 10 years. I was doing some research for a music related project and ran across his name. he had been a producer for a fairly popular Christian band and the keyboardist for another christian group. I decided to do a little further research to determine if indeed it was him. I found his bio on a website and discovered that not only was it him, but that he had married the girl I was good friends with in elementary. I thought it was a wierd coincidence that I had been good friends with both of them at 2 different times in my life and that they would later meet and get married.
Chance, how long have you been subbing at Spring? I graduated a couple of years ago, but don't remember ever seeing you.
I went to kindergarten at a certain school outside of Chicago for one year, left the town the following summer. 13 years later, I stroll into the University of Missouri to meet my school-assigned roommate, turns out I went to Grade Zero with the kid.
