Shelly Dean Lowery, 28, of Brenham was discovered early Sunday morning at her residence with both opened and unopened beer cans, pornographic material on display and seven minors ranging in ages 14 to 19. Brenham police said today that they arrived at the apartment on the 2400 block of Stone Hollow at 1:06 a.m. Sunday in reference to a noise complaint. Officers heard a loud television in the residence, as well as conversation, and knocked on the door to further investigate. When the door was opened, police discovered coolers in the living room containing unopened beer cans as well as open and empty beer cans in various locations throughout the room. Police also noticed a pornographic video with an illustrative cover to be in plain view. Police also cited an 18-year-old with a minor-in-possession charge. Also present were a 14-year-old, a 15-year-old, a 16-year-old, a 17-year-old, an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old. According to Brenham police, the Burton school district is aware of the charges and Lowery has been suspended with pay until the investigation is completed. Lowery was transported to Washington County jail following her arrest. Furnishing to minors and displaying harmful material to minors are both Class A misdemeanors.
Was she just a sick, no play gettin' chick with a bunch of boys hangin' out? She's got people, students, literally half her age at her house at 1 AM???!!!!???!!!!! And this is a misdemeanor? Even if the crowd of minors was mixed it sounds like soliciting sex with a minor, or prostitution to me... at least an intent to do so. Getting them drunk, watching p*rn, then let nature take its affect... Shouldn't this kind of thing get a more severe punishment than "suspended with pay" and only those charges? And why are those charges the only ones? It's almost as disturbing to me to not see the intent of the "party" and not charge accordingly as what happened in the first place. Kids could, and will be scarred for life from this kind of crap. The one thing each of own that only we can give away, and all others (especially adults-TEACHERS!!!) should help us guard is our sexual purity a.k.a. virginity. Is nothing sacred anymore? Whether you have a religious angle or not... it's wrong to prey on kids! Should read "WAS FIRED" from the school district and is under "FELONY SEXUAL ASSAULT" charges. Po-dunk law enforcement. If it was a celebrity they'd've charged all that... but since it's a nice little teacher, it's "wait and see" and "Shhhhhhhhhh... hopefully this resolves itself." Oh well. That's my debate. End of discussion.
I'm not disagreeing with you, IROC, but you can't arrest people for "intent". If a guy intends to rob a bank, but forgot to bring his gun and thus doesn't go thru with it, you can't arrest him for intending to rob a bank.
I had an unforgetable night with a biology teacher at 16 and I'm not warped or messed up. I was old enough to know what I was getting into. To this day she is the only married woman I've ever messed around with. That said, as a parent... I hope she gets what she deserves. 14 is much too young to be infulenced by someone like this.
Went to a party once where all the young middle school teachers were upstairs watching Saturday night live while a group of 7th graders were in the basement smoking pot. There was a Will Ferrell type character who got both groups to mingle and the next thing you know teachers were doing keg stands and it was mad chaos. I've never seen anything like it since. I walked in on the Will Ferrell character having sex with one of the teachers (his girlfriend) upstairs, he waived to me and asked me if I needed anything, and then went back to his business. I just shut the door and went about mine. The whole night was just strange. So I've seen this happen before. As the party was taking place there wasn't anything different than any other party, but there was always something in the back on your head saying did this actually happen. Then you woke up on the floor and everything was back to normal for me. I don't know about the kids and their teachers tho'.
As a fellow alum, I'd love to know who this person is. No way it can be who I think it is, especially since we're like eight years apart.
Damn...Why didn't I have any teachers like this in HS... I hope she was hot...But even if she isn't, she's still pretty cool...
There were no teachers that I would bang at my former high school. Now in college there have been a few but that's because you get a lot of teacher's assistants teaching classes and fresh faces right out of college.
We need to see a picture of this teacher to determine if she is a cutie or a cow. Then the whole story will have more meaning!
see, this is why I teach older students... at least 18... that way I can't be accused of corrupting any minors. just kidding... of course I don't get my students drunk or screw around with them. That wouldn't be too professional. Sometimes I find myself acting like one of them (because I'm not very much older) and hope I haven't gone too far with that. But a lot of them are cool and accept it... I doubt too many of my male students have ever thought I was "hot", though. (not that I'd be doing anything about it... though it might boost my ego a bit...)
darn, no edit. What I meant to say was that the idea of being attractive to students is always good for the ego. <i>Not</i> the idea of actually messing around with the student.
Hell, I have a degree in teaching and this is the reason I'm not using it. The way kids dress today (thank you brittney spears), I would have been on the news by now...
