If the Saints continue this downward spiral, the Saints might be looking to clean house (they already started with Graham). Do we shoot for Brees? What do you think it would take to get him?

Whereever he is going, he's probably not taking a wholesale discount.

Ultimately I think the Saints work out an extension with him to shave off that ridiculous cap number and have him retire a Saint.

Nice idea but if he's available the suitors list would be long. At least the Eagles, Jets, Bills, Rams, Browns, 49ers, and Texans would be interested. Maybe even a couple more. The long list would make the trade expensive for sure.

Our only chance, he wants to come back to Texas. Jets (NY city), Eagles (Chip), and Bills (Rexy) also attractive spots to contending teams. Luckily I think with BOB, RAC, JJ and the D, "weaker" division we're also a nice spot to land.

I've been thinking Brees for 2 years now. It would be in NO's best interest to cut ties since his contract has permanently hamstrung the franchise and Payton may be eyeing the Dolphins job.

I would love to get Brees for 2 years and see what he can do with this defense. Make pass protection and continuity on defense the short-term priority. Find an athletic, cheap TE like Niles Paul. Cross fingers on the run game. See what happens.

I said no to Peyton a few years ago and got BURNED, so now I say YES to Brees.

I'd say yes to him so long as we still drafted a quarterback.

We probably don't have the cap room to get him. There are still OL and Crick that need to be re-signed this off season which leaves little to no cap room for Brees. The only way is if Brees is waived and then he agrees to a new contract. I would think that given that the 49ers and/or Rams have cap space to get Brees, New Orleans may look to either of those to try and trade him. Of course, if they can't trade him though, then that means you're likely going to have a long list of suitors as mentioned above by someone.

    This sounds awfully familiar.

I get it we do need to resign a few players but was what we resigned the year Petyon went to Denver worth more or equal to his value towards that team going forward? The answer is no. So I say yes to Brees.

I was just thinking about this on Sunday as Brees was made to look like David Carr by poor o-line play, weak receivers and no running game.

I'd do whatever it takes to get him. Then also draft a QB high either this year or next to groom behind him (he is 36 years old).

If he's available absolutely you take a shot at bringing him in. Signing Brees, drafting a RB #1, and if the Defense can keep this play up next season we would be a Super Bowl contender.
