Take a break from Ming and Steve bashing; bash an NBA "analyst" instead

Hey all, after choking through days and days of anti-Francis or anti-Yao threads (initially, a refreshing change from the anti-Thomas, anti-Mobley, and anti-Taylor threads), I decided to create a little haven for people to let out their frustrations on people that are much more deserving: sports writers.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), there weren't any Blinebury articles to rag on, so I will have to settle with starting with one of the hacks at MSNBC, Matt Goukas' article "Five who will thrive in NBA" at this link:

    http://www.msnbc.com/news/771559.asp

The first thing that struck me about this fine piece of journalism was the opening sentence: "The only certainty in Wednesday’s NBA Draft is that 58 players will be selected over two rounds."

Really? 58, you say, eh Matt? What is it with journalists and the inabiility to remember that Minnesota doesn't have a first round pick this year? Therefore, 28 first round picks + 29 second round picks = 57.

Goukas on Jay Williams: "He’s got legitimate three-point capability that will probably take a little time to develop on the pro level. "

It's "legitimate" and "it will take a little time to develop". Gee, I guess those 2 things only sound mutually exclusive.

On Mike Dunleavy, Jr.: "Growing up the son of an NBA coach will benefit him greatly in understanding the physical and emotional nature of the league. He already has a feel for the way things are supposed to be done and it should make his acclimation to the league much easier.

You know, my father was a mechanic, so I should have a feel for the way my car's engine works, but somehow I still can't change my own oil!

On Dan Dickau: "While some compare him with John Stockton and Steve Nash, there is a lot of Mark Price in him"

I guess that pretty much covers all of the all-star white PGs in the last few years, right? Of course, silly me, but I don't really see that many similarities between Stockton, Nash, and Price's styles of play, besides the fact that they are/were all good 3 point shooters.

Also, who the heck else believes that Dickau will be a better player than Ming (who didn't make Goukas' coveted "Top 5" list) down the road? I'm not even convinced that the other 2 players that made the list (Drew Gooden and Caron Butler) have the same potential as Ming, though I can see an argument for them being on a top 5 list. But Dickau?!?

Anyway, come one, come all. Bash Goukas! Find your own annoying article and bash it! Heck! Bash good ol' Launch Pad for using his name in the third person like Steve Francis if you'd like!

And when you're done here, maybe you will be refreshed enough to rejoin your other ongoing bashing threads at your leisure.
