Right off my Mustang while it sat on my driveway...I don't quite understand why people have to be such ass hats, but oddly enough I'm not very pissed for a few reasons.

1.) The car is not running right now...I think I spun a bearing so I'm tearing the engine down to ID the problem.

2.) They were screwed in, so they were broken as they came off. Not useless broken, but not in perfect condition anymore.

3.) They were the only lights in town that had the trim painted red, so we (25 members of my Mustang Club) are on the lookout. No cops were called. This calls for "playground justice".

4.) I was wanting to upgrade to Cobra tailights anyways. Now I have an excuse.

The thing that bothers me the most is how these idiots can't do for themselves so they steal from someone else. I'll have to make sure that everything in my yard is secure, as well as the gate to the back yard. I know it's really something minor, but I know my wife is not going to feel as secure at night for awhile.

This is the second time that I've heard of smoeone having their lenses stolen, and both times they were mustangs.

sorry to hear about it, man.

Note: the people who stole your lenses certainly know that you will replace them. Also, if your car looks like you have put time and care into it, the thieves will probably expect you to replace the lenses with nicer ones. With this in mind, they will probably wait a while and try to steal your new ones as well.

Keep your car(s) in a garage.

Yeah, it's out in the driveway because all the engine parts are on the floor in the garage. Once I get her running again, she goes back inthe garage.

that happened to me when I used to go to UT. I had a little toyota truck. I was thinking, "why would someone still the tail lights". then I had to go buy some and that answered my question. I'm not gonna lie, I was tempted to do the same thing.

Check salavage yards for missing parts, they usually offer good deals. As pgabriel posted, these things cost a pretty penny. When I was 16, I back my mom's car into a tree and ruined her lens and she called to check and see how much a new one was and it was around $100 for just one. Then she called local salavage yards and found an exact match and they only charged her $20.

i had the battery of my POS '84 Blazer stolen 5 months ago right from my driveway. it's gotta be the same punks that broke in the blazer a year earlier and tried to take the actual truck. those f***ers broke the glass and tried to rip off the cover of the steering wheel. they're gonna get theirs one of these days b/c there's been a rash a break ins lately.

Whoever said "crime doesn't pay" was wrong.

If crime didn't pay, there wouldn't be any crime.

Be thankful they just got your tail-lights.

I got hit by an inside job out at the house Im building the other night.

Fudgers stole about $3,000 - $4,000 worth of power tools, some were only a month or so old.

Damn, is it 1993 all over again? I didn't think people stole tail lights anymore from the old fox bodies... much less the GT ones, everyone stole the LX and Cobras. Keep an eye on the mustang websites, you'd be suprised how many stupid people steal stuff off of cars and then try and sell them off of local websites.

A couple months ago, I worked with this guy whom I overheard planning to do this same thing to someone's car. He was planning on getting "BMW tail lights and Mustang tail lights," and arranging to sell them to somebody over the phone. He was fired shortly thereafter for exhibiting this same type of behavior at work. But I was wondering how in the hell he planned on taking them out because the bolts are on the inside of the trunk. Maybe you could pry open a Mustang's trunk and get away with it, but a BMW would probably sound its alarm. But apparently, he just was breaking them off with an effing crowbar. What a loser.

Oh, and this was in Austin, FT... I'm pretty sure you're in Houston, so I don't have a lead for you or anything - just a story of a r****d.

DT, I'm in Brownsville, but it seems there are stupid a-holes everywhere.

The Mustang lights and pony rims were poorly designed. Lights could literally be pulled off since the lens was attached with glue and clips. I reinforced mine with self tapping screws across of the assembly going through the concealed part of the lens. Then I dremeled out a little of the lens so the lens would crack instead of pulling out the entire assemble. It worked because they got most of the lenses, except where it was drilled in. That part was cracked away! :D If I can;t have them, nobody can!!!

The pony caps were very desireable and could simply be popped off like a hubcap. I had to reinforce my caps with fiberglass, drill and counter sink them, and tap my rims so I could add a lock to the caps. It worked too. The slot to pop the cap was eaten away where people would try to steal them. ;)
