Tagg Romney: "Mitt wanted the presidency least out of anyone I know"

    I don't even know what to say. The GOP self destructed a long time ago...so nothing new. But I feel bad for his fanboys like bigtexxx and jopatmc that had to cry after he lost.




    Mitt Romney didn't want to be president, anyway.

    That's what Tagg Romney, Mitt's oldest son, told the Boston Globe for its big post-mortem on his father's failed presidential bid published on Sunday.

    “He wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve met in my life," Tagg Romney told the paper. "He had no desire to ... run. If he could have found someone else to take his place ... he would have been ecstatic to step aside.

    "He is a very private person who loves his family deeply and wants to be with them," Tagg continued. "He has deep faith in God and he loves his country, but he doesn’t love the attention.”

    Romney's reluctance to become commander in chief has been hinted at by his sons before. Before their father sought the 2012 GOP nomination, several said they tried to convince him not to run.

    "I tried to convince him not to," Matt Romney told Conan O'Brien in June. "I think there were a few of us that tried that. I just felt for us as a family, this isn't the best thing. But ... for the country, we think it's the right thing."

    If that is true, then he is very irresponsible for even taking part in the nomination process. Had he not been involved, perhaps a more deserving candidate with a better shot of winning might have taken the nomination.

    After all, Romney was the inevitable safe pick of the Republican establishment. I would have liked to have seen what else they could have produced had we not had Romney thrust upon us by default.

    No one runs for President for 6 years if they don't want it. This is a ridiculous claim by his son.

    With that, who cares? He lost nearly two months ago. He's irrelevant in US politics.

    Those kids are loyal -- there must be something to this for 'Tagg' to be so outspoken about his father.

    I'm glad we have someone in the White House who wants to be president.

    Where are our usual republican posters. Going to such lengths to make the case for Romney over Obama...only to learn he "Doesn't want to be president?"

    Oh, he wanted to be President. He really wanted it, as did his wife and kids. I think the kid is confusing running for President with being President.
