If this trade has in fact been completed then this might be a blessing in disguise for the Rockets. The T-wolves now have the 5th and the 6th pick in the draft. I highly doubt they are going to use both of these picks. I would be very interested to see if the Rockets can go for either one of these picks. I think you are almost guaranteed Tyreke Evans, Curry, or Jennings. Assuming that the first four picks are going to be Griffin, Rubio, Harden, and Hill.
why wouldn't they use them? They also have another pick in the late teens i think....there's still enough talent at the 5 and 6t for them to use the picks, especially since they want to build around Jefferson and new youth...the only player they would want from is a point guard, brooks, and they could probably pick one up just as good at the 5 or 6.
the only player that can legitimately help a team with champoinship aspirations is Rubio bc of his experience with the spanish national team and his freakish bball iq. so if no rubio then i think we should stand pat
why is it highly doubtful they can keep both picks? if they can get a harden and curry/evans their backcourt would be set for the future, and pair that with their frontcourt of jefferson/love they have a very bright future.
Exactly. The new T'Wolves GM promised to make a big move or splash, and Rubio is who he is courting and going for.
The top part of the draft is average at best and besides Rubio no one I would REALLY want, however the 18th pick intrigues me. Carl Landry for Ryan Gomes and the 18th Pick which we can turn into Earl Clark or Sam Young...interesting because Ryan has two more years then Landry and is more expensive. Gomes helps us get young and athletic while not puttings us to much in a whole.
in my opinion we can only trade aaron brooks to get one of those picks, and even if we get either the 5th or 6th pick I'd only draft James Harden if he falls. Evans, Holiday, and Jennings are not worth Aaron Brooks.
Hey everyone, i'm new here, just wanted to add to this conversation. The T-wolves still have picks 18, and 28 left in the 1st round, so could use those to move higher up again, I think it all comes down to who goes at pick 1, and 2 as to who they will get at 5 and 6 though.
I would love this trade. But there is no way the Wolves do that. He is their Battier-lite. I mean he is the all-around, hustle, can do a little bit of everything player for them. Not as sound on defense as battier, but you get the picture. Plus why would they want another undersized post player after having Love and Jefferson?
Dude. The guy is not going to win a championship for anyone any time soon. He is still a project. Huge potential - Yes. A guy that immediately puts a team over the line - NO WAY. Blake Griffin is the only guy who could be a significant piece for a championship contender but he is gonna go to the Clippers... So ye...
Well neither one of these guys will be going to a good team...it's unfair to say either of them will win a ring, they will have to go to a good team... A team like us But....The Wolves have too many picks if you ask me. I'll be looking for them to trade one them, and now with no Foye...maybe they'd like Brooks? But 5th and 6th...Rubio might not be avaliable then and i'm not sure on the other PGs. I'd rather get Harden or Thabeet if not Rubio.
I see the potential offer of #5 and #6 to Memphis for #2. I can also see Memphis opening up for bid and getting Sacramento to bid the #4 and something else for the #2. What is Sacramento going to offer Memphis? More salary obviously. Because Sacramento doesn't want to take on salary. They are not going to trade Memphis Kenny Thomas' expiring for Jaric. So it is could come down to Sacramento deciding between offering the #4 and either Hawes or Thompson to Memphis for #2 or Sacramento trading the #4 plus Nocioni, Udrih, Garcia, Thomas, and the #4 to Houston for McGrady, Lowry, a future draft pick and some cash. This would free Sacramento of their salary problems, give them a future draft pick, and the opportunity to flip McGrady later on in the season to a contender for another draft pick in addition to some expirings. It also keeps them in the John Wall Derby for next year. I would think Sacramento chooses to relieve themselves of the payroll and keep their foundation pieces of Hawes, Thompson, and Kevin Martin together, while giving them a very servicable point in Lowry and more draft picks to build with as opposed to getting Rubio but subtracting Thompson or Hawes and still having all their payroll issues. What other team could afford to offer Sacramento the ultimate cap relief by taking on Nocioni, Udrih, and Garcia's contracts? Not only that, but Nocioni, Udrih, and Garcia fit just fine into Adelman's offense. And Nocioni makes Landry expendable in the deal to get to Memphis' #2 pick. We can send the #4, Landry, Cook, and $3 million cash to Memphis in exchange for Jaric and their #2 pick. They move down 2 slots, save a boatload of money and get money from us. I think this could be a win/win deal. And an offer of the #4 plus cash plus cap relief could possibly trump the #5 and #6 offer that Minny throws at Memphis. Can you see this?
when i first though about this deal i thought the same thing but after doing some reading the twolves want to move up to the #2 spot and they are gonna use that extra pick to do so.
Yeah. The T-Wolves will likely package #5, #18 and #28 to move up to #2. They will NOT trade both #5 and #6 just to move up a few spots.
