http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/scoreboard/20011005/recap/348959.html Our hero of heroes, not! , Hakeem "it's only a dunk over you, if you try to block it" Olajuwon had 4 rebounds. I find it curious that they wouldn't say how many points he had. I wonder if he was injured again by a glass of cold water!
First of all, it was a meaningless preseason game. Secondly, I find your disrespect of the Rockets' greatest-ever player pitiful. Hakeem, in the basketball world, IS the Rockets' hero of heroes, and he always will be.
I knew you would get riled up by this! I don't disagree with you that this is a meaningless game, but I find it interesting that Garnett had 21 points and 12 rebounds or something like that. Didn't seem too meaningless to him, now did it?
Yes, but Vince Carter had a measly 17 points. I guarantee that Hakeem will have a better year, now that he is on a team that appreciates him. The preseason means nothing.
Okay, so his health is an issue. Does that mean that he isn't the best player in Rockets' history? Does his current health cancel out those two trophies he brought to Houston? I'm just sick and tired of people trying to wipe away his accomplishments because he's going to end up spending 10 percent of his career on a different team. He will always be a Rocket, and I just want the man to get the respect from the fans that he deserves.
Jordan is going to school courtesy of all these kids...fish don't fry in the kitchen, beans don't burn on the grill, Jordan ain't going to do [dishes]...because he's way over the hill. University (Next Batter Up) Blue
I'm not sure... but wasn't Hakeem pretty selfish to turn his back on a team that has stayed loyal to him for the 17 years he has been here? I'm sorry but in this situation Hakeem lost points with me and alot of other fans out there that loved having him on the roster. If anything, Hakeem deserves alittle bit back. Carry on....
The organization that stayed loyal to him for 17 years? Gee, how nice of them. Considering that he only led them to two championships, and only leads the Rockets in almost every category, the Rockets were just super-generous. Hakeem could have played for any team in his career, so it's not like the Rockets did him any favors. The organization is what didn't show loyalty.
Come on ZRB, this Haskeem guy you're talking about, we know what he meant to you, but you can't blame Rockets management. Hokeem did what he wanted to do, but in the end Hakseim went where the money was. Loyalty can only go so far, and the Rockets showed loyalty to Hakseim by even offering him anything. Look we all respect Haskeem, but his days at the PG spot were numbered. Or was he a PF? What position did he play again? GO ROCKETS!!!
I have a feeling that you guys will boo when he plays in Houston. In fact, I won't be surprised if you boo when they retire his jersey.
