DD, I have seen a post which I cant find at the moment but it says it would be a waste if we let Tmacs contract just expire. I have no opinion on that matter but just a question to better my knowledge of this situation. You said we would be 7mil under the new cap after his 23 mil drops. All the raises applied and etc. Just wondering why it would be waste? Yeah we could have have probably gotten something better and be over the cap again but maybe Les is tired of being over the cap. /shrug I dont know. I just know we including myself always makes plans with Les money, kinda funny. Btw, how many teams are over atm? Just curious as to how big the pot is and how many ways it will be split.
If we could some how get Al Jefferson AND Rubio...DAMMMMMM Gomes, Cardinal and AL for TMAC or Gomes, Cardinal, Blount, Rubio and #1 for TMAC
Blount's albatross contract expires this year. So why would they trade one of the best young PFs in the league + Rubio for another expiring? I looked at their roster.. they don't really have ANY bad contracts. Can't really see us making a deal.
Honestly, if they gave up Al, I would be happy with any other players for fillers. You guys expecting too much now. Greedy arse mofos.
To raise ticket sales, and to get under the cap to where in their minds they can have a chance at marquee free agents
I know, but I couldn't see much else that would make a deal work. Ryan Gomes instead of Blount, perhaps, to maximize savings for Minnesota. The salaries would be close to matching; I'm not sure what value would be attributed to Rubio's draft rights, though, for salary matching. The T-Wolves have an issue with Big Al -- they have him at the Center position. Like you said, he's a PF, but with Kevin Love in the line-up, Al is forced to play the C. He's out of position. Basically, the T-Wolves have a logjam at PF. That being said, we have a logjam at PF with Landry/Scola, too...
As for the value to us of letting T-Mac's contract expire, it depends on how much over the cap we are. I'm not up on the figures, but for example, if we're $22 million over next year's cap, and we let Tracy's $23 million contract expire, we'll have $1 million to use to sign a FA. OTOH, if another team will be $3 million under if they stand pat, and they trade us $23 million in contracts that aren't expiring, they will then be $26 million under. So, the contract will be worth more to them than to us.
I want Al. Get it done Morey. You can trade anybody not named Yao ( I am biased of course) on this team for Al.
I think Landry is doing great, and his salary is quite low. We don't really need Al, but Rubio will be a great fit for the rockets.
Tmac's situation has been plastered all over the media for almost a year now. Within the last month or so there's been even more attention. Tmac says he feels great. The team says otherwise. He was trained by the guy who got wade and arenas back....so why wouldn't any random NBA GM, coach, AND player not watch his warm-ups closely?? Nothing to see here folks, move it along..
If they think McGrady can help them win games and right now they need to win. I feel there could a possibility for the Rockets to snare Rubio's rights at the cost of taking back all their deadweight contracts. Kahn's desperation in a jpeg: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=177455
Number of teams CURRENTLY over the salary cap: 25 Number of teams CURRENTLY under the salary cap: 5 I have no idea what pot you are talking about though - is it the stuff you're smoking? Perhaps you don't realise, but the salary cap and luxury tax are 2 very different items. Being UNDER the luxury tax level simply means you don't pay an extra dollar for every dollar you are over. Currently the Rockets are about $3million over the luxury tax level (or the equivalent of trading Cook plus a 2nd round pick to a team under the level). I highly doubt Les is 'tired' of being over the salary cap level - I can't think of the last time Houston went an entire season being UNDER the salary cap? And if you really meant the luxury tax level - again, Morey has managed this really well over the past few years and we've NOT been over the luxury tax level yet. PERHAPS this season we will be - but that remains to be seen. Can somebody clarify for me: because the Raptors picked up Pops off waivers, that means we're free from any portion of his salary counting against our cap this season?
