I think I am correct but would like for someone to confirm. I have a BB 8900 and was getting horrible signal in my building at work. I finally turned on the wi-fi and got the network key from our IT guy. Now I assume all calls and texts are going through the Wi-Fi, I don't any normal T-mobile bars in place of that I see wi-fi and UMA... I am now able to text and receive calls in my building. I assume because I am hooked up through UMA/WI-Fi.. Can someone please confirm this? PS. I have great signal everywhere else, no dropped calls.. for some reason I was having trouble in this building.. Not anymore... Thanks
Pretty sure Wifi has nothing to do with your signal unless you are running some kind of VOIP thing on your phone.
I was correct: "If your browser says UMA in capital letters, you’re set. This means you can use basically all functions over the UMA connection. This includes making calls, if you have T-Mobile’s Hotspot @Home service, or the comparable Rogers service. Have fun surfing at high speeds with a WiFi connection, while plenty of suckers out there plod along at EDGE speeds." Next to the UMA I just noticed three bars...
