http://phandroid.com/2010/12/20/free-t-mobile-g2-through-loyalty-department/ Tmo News just received word that customers looking to score a G2 on the mega-cheap can do so if they jump through a few small hoops. Step one: cut a hol..no wait, call T-Mobile’s customer support line. 1-800-937-8997 Step two: Say “Contract, CONtract…CONTRACT” to the automated system. Step three: Manage to get yourself to the loyalty department Once all of those steps have been followed and the line you want to upgrade is ready for the full discount, it should be easy as pie to con your way into a free G2. Chances are, now that the cat is out of the bag, this offer will be pulled before day’s end. I would jump on as soon as you can. -------------------- Just ordered mine, and got free express 3 day shipping. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET.
tmobile sux...i have that phone, not the 4G but the original one and just like most, a lot of forced closed and dropped calls...i'm sure to some extent this happens to most carriers, but overall, i'm thinking of moving to sprint once my contract is up...
Dunno, got some $30/mo plan that i plan on knocking off one of the lines when i sell the phone. Got upgrades on 2 lines, so keeping 1 and getting rid of the other for around $300 cash.
I have T-Mobile and I think their service is horrible as well (can't have a conversation without a dropped call it seems). We are going to change as soon as our contract as well.
I think it depends alot on the phone. I had a crappy phone before, and used to have issues with the service all the time. When I had my G1 however, rarely if ever had problems. Im hoping for the same with the G2. EIther way, I'll root it just like I rooted my G1.
I have Tmo and almost never get dropped calls, except when I'm doing something like going into an elevator. That said, I'm waiting until my contract is up in May, then I plan on finding a sweet sign-up deal with a competitor to get two sweet phones and a good deal for 2 years. Then, after two years, I'll dump them and move to another competitor.
The problem is my family soaks up minutes, texts and data like you wouldn't believe and nobody will come close to T-Mobile's unlimited plans. Can't see us ever leaving.
This deal was too good to pass up. I jumped on it. A friend of mine was telling me that his Mytouch 4G was giving him 18 Mbps.
I called them and they said it wasn't an official deal and that they couldn't offer it to me. I'm about to call back and start b****ing..
Always ask to speak to their supervisor. Many times they will give you what you want and avoid getting them on the line.
Update: Just got it. Trick is to say "loyalty department" or "cancel" to the automated system to get directed to the right people. A supervisor answered my call and didn't hassle me at all.
g2 is super fantastic phone... if you want 4g speed, android with very minimal carrier junk, and unlimited data... this is the phone you want
You have to be 22 months into your current contract. I was like 13 days short of 22 months but they hooked it up anyway. I also got free express shipping and no $18 upgrade fee. Also, make sure you get transferred to their customer loyalty/retention department. See my post above.
But can you tether it to a laptop like the MyTouch 4G? They offered to upgrade me at 18 months in June, but I knew that wasn't the time to get an Android phone. We have another line at 2 years now and I'm gonna upgrade it to one of the dual core phoned coming out in the first half of 2011. Gotta future-proof as much as you can.
I was transferred to the customer loyalty department. I just got my blackberry in July so that is probably why.
Agreed, I've had all carriers. You get the most for your money with Sprint and their roaming agreement with Verizon seals the deal.
