he is not going to be able to average seven apg. we dont really have any good shooters he can pass to as of yet
Yao and JJ should be enough for him to get 7 assists if hes really commited to distributing the ball.
these are pinnacle scottie pippen numbers... hopefully we can get pinnacle scottie pippen play. <-- i know people hate him here, but back when he was with the bulls he was SO GOOD.
Bah, forgot to add... Yao is also a great outside shooter, so its not like the team is devoid of a mid range shooters. Tmac can penetrate, drawing the big men, then dish out to an open Yao for a 15 foot jumper.
He got 5.5 a game last year with who supporting him?? His penetration can easily create room for Yao, MoTay, and JHoward, all of whom have offensive game. He will have JJ on the wing all night. And Im sure that any point we throw out can at least remotely help get TMac some assists. 7 isnt a stretch. Do I think he can do it, probably not...but I think he can get at least one more assist a game over last year. That puts him at 6.5. Not too much of a reach.
Hi. I'm new here. I've been following McGrady since his rookie season in Toronto and a big fan of Yao and JVG as well. The guy is flat out amazing. Can do any and everything. Coming out of highschool, many people projected him as being a tall NBA pointguard like "Magic Johnson / Big O" - saying he was Penny Hardaway x2. IMHO, 22, 8 and 7 is not far-fetched. This is a guy who averaged 34 points, 8 assist, and 7 rebounds, (with only 2 turnovers) in his first playoff series of being "the man". I would not be surprised if he gets very close to a triple double at his time here in Houston. He's that good.
