Good move, doesn't deserve it, and the break gives him a few more days off for a meaningless exhibition game that no one cares about.
So, the starting line-up for the West would be: Chris Paul Kobe Bryant Amare Stoudemire Tim Duncan Yao Ming
Co-sign. So sad much of the All-Star game is about your past or how often you slam dunk. Still pisses me off that Rafer is ahead of Brandon Roy. Ugh.
popularity contest.....He is liked by many so he was voted in. Votes are the only thing that matters for a person to get in, not some one deserving it.
That's not a surprise at all. He's acknowledged that being voted in as a starter was "crazy". I hope he's allowed to give the spot to a more deserving player and not get punished for it by the league.
Hmm, does Amare Stoudemire, the "no longer feared", deserve it? Both Carmelo and Paul Gasol are more deserving IMO.
He better not play. That's a crime and insult to the system if he plays and starts with the season he's had. I like T-Mac and i'm not hating, but c'mon....
I don't agree with that at all. Just because votes are the procedure by which starters are selected, that doesn't mean it is "all that matters". Coaches select the reserves, and for good reason. The NBA wants deserving players to get into the game. And guess what -- if a guy who isn't deserving is voted in as a starter, that's one less spot for a deserving player that coaches could select.
I wouldn't play either...I don't think he deserves to be in the starting squad and he is no where near what he used to be...so I guess he don't want to disappoint the fans (embarrass himself)
i have a feeling t-mac could rescue 17 diabled kids from a burning orphanage while curing aids and some of you would be b****ing that he didn't put the fire out and cure cancer.
If he is voted in and being able to play regular games before the ASG, he has to play the ASG. That is the rule. I remember Kobe didn't want to play, but he had to show up for a couple of minutes last year.
I think it's as much that he doesn't enjoy the hassle of attending and playing in the ASG as much as it is not wanting to start when he hasn't earned a place. I'm sure he's much more interested in staying in Houston and getting a 5 day weekend. He's not the only guy to feel that way, either. However, the NBA may have something to say about this. When Karl Malone started getting obvious about ducking the ASG just because he'd rather have time off, they dropped the hammer. McGrady's scheduled to play for a good two weeks before the break. They'll threaten to fine him if he pulls a bogus injury excuse (especially when he hasn't been injured all this time anyway). Evan
Some people are having good seasons but haven't played enough to deserve it ... in TMac's case it's not just that he's missed half the games, but his play is not all-star worthy .... at least when Penny made it that one year he was injured he was at least good when he played Either way, he's too big a star to stay away and focus on his progress ... he'll probably be attending everything
I do not believe him he will play it is too important for him to miss especially for his next contract
