610AM just reported T-Mac was re-evaluated today 1/19 and will be attending the road trip with the team. Friday night at CHI he will be a game time decision.
Right now, Rox has a great shot in getting a top 3 pick in the next draft. So Rox should rest T-mac more until he has fully recovered.
I think they should sit T-Mac for the rest of the season and operate his back if possible. The only way to heal a back injury is rest.
F&*k yeah! Welcome back TMac. We certainly missed you while you were away. Now go out there and win us some games, damnit!
Everything that's been coming out of T-mac's camp is that it's not structural so what would operate on?
I just heard a sound clip of Carrol Dawson talking about this exact thing. He said they have discussed sitting T-Mac the whole year but the doctors told him that it would not make a difference. He said this is an injury that even if they rested T-Mac the whole year and he came back next year he could hurt it within 10 minutes of playing for the first time back. So basically this says that the injury is one that can't be healed. This will be with him and we have to hope he does not land wrong or we could be dealing with this again next year and the next year. T-Mac unfortunately is breaking down between the knee and back problems. I could not be more worried about the rockets future than I am right now.
I think it means we need to somehow make Yao an 1A option instead of 1B, because other than the toe injury Yao seems to be quite durable. And we got to have the line-up that can win without Tmac.
Agreed! We dont need TMAC to score 40 points a night a la Kobe- We need TMAC for the closing stages- as long as he is on the court the opponent has to respect his presence. Anyway T MAC has been trying to get others to score in the first 2 periods and defer his points to finish games. This is why we need a 3rd option that is legitimate not the typical MLE route we have been trying to go.
i honestly dont think it is that hard to make up 7 games and be in the playoffs, there is still half a season i dont think jazz, clips, and lakers can play this well and hence my thinking is that they will have a less than .500 winning % after th all star game and i do belive that we can win a string of games, 5/6 in a row multiple times with a healthy mac/yao if it is very realistic to be 4/5 games behind a team and catch up i think it is at least sane to think 7 games with the "dark horse team to win the west" to make a run after the all star break.....
Maybe during the offseason Yao needs to take T-Mac down to China and find him some local herbal remedies.
You forget that many people have already bought tickets for this year, and I'm sure Les would like even more sales. If TMac can't make his back any worse by playing with it, and he's not currently in pain, then he'll have to play. Face facts that we will not make the playoffs, nor will we get a top lotto pick. The best we can hope for is that we end up with a top 10 pick and Dawson finds a gem.
Yeah, that's a problem. But at this point I don't care if we don't make the playoffs. Just win games. We're not going to win the championship anyway, so what's the point of making the playoffs? Win games and entertain the fanbase, and look forward to next year.
looking ahead at the next three games. Rest T-Mac for the Chicago game at least. If he plays we might actually win if he returns in typical heroic form. Against Detroit, I don't think it will matter if he plays. Of course, the next night after Detroit at Milwaukee on a back to back, he should rest for precaution. A 10 game losing streak should make things clearer.
the best way to get a young player who can contribute now and alot later and doesn't get paid much is by getting a top 3 pick.. they don't get paid much, are around 20 yrs old, have pretty good first years, and continue to grow i think this is the route the rockets should take
Doctors don't know everything. I think that he should rest and rehab if not the whole seson than every other game or something. You have to error on the side of caution with T-Mac. If he goes down hill due to his back then we won't be debating whether to tank or not. We will be in contention for the first pick for several years till we get some players. You might as well trade Yao and do a Portland cause it will be gruesome.
