Heading into the playoffs, do the Rockets have the best player(that will be in the playoffs) in the NBA ?? Please post your thoughts, agreements, disagreements, etc.
As long as Duncan and Shaq are playing, I'm gonna have to go with false. We definitely have the best perimeter/swingman going into the playoffs. Then again, we arguably have the best perimeter/swingman in the NBA period.
um, that would be shaqdaddy. Come playoffs shaq will have far more effect on teams like spurs, suns, pistons than tmac will have Still I think we have the best SG/SF out there
1. Played good defense all year. 2. Scored and took over games. 3. Best passer on his team. 4. Good rebounder. 5. Made the players around him better. 6. Got his teamates good looks. 7. Did the super human when needed. No doubt TMac is the best player in the league. (and I am a big homer too!)
I love T Mac but you would HAVE to go with Shaq on this one. The M.D.E. affects the game in so many ways.
Obviously you have to choose Shaq over T-Mac before the playoffs start. Some people might choose Duncan also, though I wouldn't. After it's over, we must take this poll again. That's why you play the games. Who knows, T-Mac could average 42 points a game \and go ballistic in the last 5 minutes of each game, AGAIN!
SHaq is the most dominant player, not the best overall player, there is a difference. He changes the game because of his dominance no so much as skills.
That's absurd. If McGrady were 5'10, instead of 6'8, he'd suck. So would half the players in the NBA. But wait! There's more...you can't just take away heighth to neutralize the variable of natural skills...you have to take away athleticism, too! So take away their physical ability that's not ar esult of diligent application.... ...and who's the best player in the NBA? It's utterly impossible to know. There's probably thousands of guys out there more skilled than just about anyone in the NBA...but who are 5'10 and can't jump. Quite frankly, if we're thinking about pure skill, we should probably remove all non-PGs from the equation entirely. You can't separate physical ability from skill in determining the "best player." Otherwise, your criteria become so artificial as to be absurd.
Nowitzki my azz. Rockets will shut him down. Trust me man. Make him put the ball on the floor and you take away his effectiveness. I know you don't believe me right now, but talk to me after a couple of games. He wants to shoot with his feet set. Make him dribble. He can't pass of the dribble and his shooting percentage decreases dramatically.
T-mac isn't the most dominant, nor the best player entering the playoffs. But he is the most dangerous.
macfan, I hope you are right but I disagree. Dirk gets a lot of FTs from his drives because he initiates contact and screams out loud. It's almost like it scares the officials into calling a foul. My solace is that if any coaching staff can figure out Dirk, it's JVG. But the Mavs have so many other weapons it's gonna be tough. Jason Terry has also been very huge for them.
