Man . . . I wish T-mac would shoot that short jumper that Rip Hamilton LIVES OFF of more often. Rip is no where near as talent as T-mac. . but his offense is so fricking efficient Rocket River
Larry Brown has Hamilton shooting off of picks everytime. It has almost become unstoppable to defend when he gets going. All their guys: Sheed, Wallace, Prince, all set great picks for Hamilton and Chauncy. JVG has TMac basically playing ISO. Its not much different from Steve except TMac shoots a lot better than him. We need TMac coming off of picks and pulling up. Teams have figured out just to double Yao/TMac because the rest of the team can't shoot. Our offensive scheme is so raw. It doesn't produce efficiently enough and stalls completely all the time. It has become the biggest factor in our losses all season long, as well as last year too.
T-Mac got quite some open looks after Yao sets a pick to free him up for either a jumper or a good drive.
Hamilton always gets a pick to catch and shoot, and the offense depends on running without ball. T-Mac normally dribble the ball to shoot behind the pick. I think there is a big difference. Hopefully, rockets have more offense like what Hamilton gets.
If Larry Brown was our coach, i'm sure we'd see that. But JVG doesn't appear to care much about offense, only defense. And might i add, if we're going to play such atrosious offenense, shouldn't our defense and rebounding be a tad better? Then again, i'm just pointing out the obvious here.
If Larry Brown were our coach he'd be grumpier than Gundy. Ever seen LB lately? does he have hemroids, the clap, what in the hell is his problem. well dont bring that to houston thats all i gotta say. and dont ever say 'tad' again. you cant be a tad better at rebounding or a tad better at defense, who the hell are you jessica simpson? j/k ; )
LB has been disturbed ever since the brawl broke out. He publicly said he was worried about the direction of the team after it. I also remember reading somewhere that he came out and said he was actually seriously considering stepping down because of his concerns for the team after the fight.
I would love to see Tmac take the ball to the hole more and get to the FT line much like Kobe. Being able to do that more often would elevate Tmac's game. Tmac can get the jumpshot off whenever he wants so that is huge. But it is not always going to fall. He should work harder to get to the line. Tmac needs to be the aggressor. The team will get more foul calls going their way because of it.
Oh the irony. Don't bring grumpiness to Houston? HA HA, we have freak'n Van Gundy as our coach, the grumpiest coach I have ever seen. Are you saying you would rather have JVG than LB?
So Larry Brown made Hamilton into what he is now offensively? Now I have seen it all. When did you start watching basketball or at least Rip? Did you see his game during Uconn days or at the Washington Wizards? Anyway never mind.
Did I say that LB made Hamilton into what he is offensively? No, I said that LB has Hamilton shooting off of screens, which for Hamilton, are very high percentage shots. The Pistons have a bunch of big guys that set very good screens and LB is doing a very good job of utilizing these guys and the shooters (Billups, Hamilton).
We could've had Larry Brown, but CD was too busy to give him a yes or no - he still had to interview the other candidates - according to LB, interview immediately after signing with Detroit. . Things were a little different there - signed immediately. I wish LB would have had a chance with Steve and Cuttino - probably would have still worked out the same - but - we'd also probably still have Griffin stashed away, and we'd have picked up Jones or James at least instead of Ward and Sura. I think LB would have done a little more with Boki and MoT. He's just light years better. Curses.
I was really dissapointed to see LB go to the Pistons, especially since we were the first team to interview him. Not like it matters, but LB would have been a great coach for Steve, Cat, and Yao. LB gets the most out of his players.
Assumptions on your part. 1) Immediately after Brown's interview, CD is on the record as saying that there were no other interviews scheduled. 2) Brown said, on the record after interviewing here, that he was still considering other positions. 3) Brown TWO DAYS after interviewing here, took the Pistons job, the same day that Carlisle was fired. That tells me Brown and Detroit probably already had a deal in place and he wanted that job over the Houston job.
Brown definitely knew Detroit was closer to a championship than we were and boy was he right. If Brown does retire (which he probably will after the season), JVG would be a good fit there.
