So Tracy McGrady has had over a year of recovery and rehab time, but he's still struggling. Some people think he should be back by now if he's ever going to be, while others say it takes 18 months to fully recover from microfracture surgery.

With the Pistons not likely to increase his minutes unless his production increases, I see tension and strife on the horizon. And like Allen Iverson, I don't see any other teams willing to gamble on a hobbled former superstar.

Vote for when you think T-Mac WILL retire, not when you WISH he would.

I think he'll play his last game before the all-star break. Might get waived before then. He may announce his retirement then and there, or he may wait till the end of the season.

I don't see him being an NBA player for much longer, though.

T-Mac has one or two more all-star games in him before he hangs it up.

Either that. or I see him leaving Barkley style

i doubt he retires till after the season, if he retires at all. still a lot of time for him to recover, hope he does, it would be very sad to see both of my favorite players of the last 7 or 8 years to disappear because of injuries.

After the All-Star break when he realizes he can do it any more and that he is filthy rich.

I think Detroit will keep him, just to sell some tickets.
Keep in mind, on veteran's minimum, league pays a big portion. So long as TMac's not a distraction, he's a keeper.

I think he will still be in the NBA after this year. He can still be a Jason Kapono type player.

Pass and take set jump shot 3's/mid range.

He may have lost all of his athleticism but I think he can still shoot pretty good.

He had surgery February 2009 so it has been almost 21 months and not "just over a year". Also this was supposed to be a minor microfracture surgery. Even someone like Kidd who took a while to be close to what he had been (and who had a more serious surgery) was able to play more than 10 minutes a game nearly two years later.

I doubt he will retire this year (unless forced) but his game is definitely retired.

My bad; thanks for the correction.

I still wonder if things would've been different if he'd been more diligent about his rehab from the knee injury BEFORE he got the microfracture surgery.

why would you retire if someone is foolish enough to pay you millions to play 5 minutes a game.

He looks done right now. Anytime he doesn't have the ball he looks bored and lazy. He barely goes after rebounds unless they come right to him and he seems to never look for his own shot. I can't believe anyone would think this guy "just needs time" to get back to a serviceable player status...he's done, wake up and smell the bengay folks.

Man Tracy McGrady is my favorite player to ever play in the NBA. I supported him throught the T-O-F/Y-O-F era, I supported him through the Playoff faliures, the 22W streak, His shot time with the Knicks, But man, I think he has to Retire now, I dont want him to go down the maubury, Iverson, Steve Francis, Darius Miles, Vince Carter (Soon to be, Peja, Bibby) These Players ran the NBA in 2002, Man it was a fun time to watch. But Injuries destroyed these great athletes careers, Its not fair but that's life. Tracy Please retire now, I still have your memories, From Toronto, Houston, Orlando and his first game with the Knicks, I remember that game T-Mac had and and1 lay-up and KG on the other gave him a high five. People want to see him suceed but his body is not letting him. Its tragic. Please keep DD away from this topic
