T-mac or Kobe, who is better if they have the same amount of talent on the team?

Come on whoever is better by himself is better with the same team. Everyone knows Kobe is better than Tracy.

 

Now: Kobe

Through 05-06: Wash. McGrady was a scorer of the same caliber, a better marginally rebounder, and a slightly better playmaker.

Kobe was a better defender.

T-Mac has the best statistical season of the two by far (better than any swing not named Jordan). He hasn't had a season approaching that since, and the way he's regressed these past 2 seasons it doesn't look like he'll be that player again.

Look, there are some players that will just light you up on some nights regardless of what kind of defense you play on them. Iverson and Arenas are definitely examples of those kinds of players.

McGrady has held a lower DR (defensive rating) and a lower amount of DWS (defensive win shares) than Kobe for nearly his entire career. McGrady's DR and DWS were a little bit higher than Kobe's his last year in TDot and his first 2 years in Orlando, but it wasn't really that significant (1 point deviation between the two). The only significant exceptions (ironically) are 04-05 where he actually had a higher DR and DWS than Kobe has ever had in his career and 06-07 (Kobe had the lowest DR and DWS of his career). Kobe still has the edge as of '08 statistically.

The All-D teams just serve to emphasize the fact that Kobe has been a better defender.

 

I think Supersaiyan Goku is more powerful than Super Saiyan Vegeta.

when both are healthy:

kobe has the better shot, is better at finishing with contact and drawing fouls and he's probably a little more versatile on offense. t-mac is the better passer and ballhandler.

kobe is the better defender because he puts more effort into it. he's pretty overrated as a defensive player, though. t-mac on the other side is underrated. he can play better defense than kobe when he really wants to (sadly, he rarely does).

t-mac is the better rebounder. kobe is the better leader.

as a clutch player i have to say t-mac is better. that's because he really has 2 options. he can take the final shot and make it and he can create an open shot for other players. kobe is probably a little better at clutch scoring but with him it's always the i-have-to-score-no-matter-what mentality. he wants to do it by himself. that can be good but it also can be bad.


overall they are pretty much at the same level and who's better depends on what other players are on the team.

sadly, in reality kobe is the better player because of his body. kobe is strong, quick, has no chronic injuries and can go 100 % for 48 minutes. t-mac's body isn't on the same level and so he can't go at 100 % for 48 minutes and he can't use all of his potential. that's sad but that's just how it is.

kobe > tracy, but the difference is primarily in how kobe has a more consistent jumper and fts.

at their best, not really much different. but tmac is too inconsistent during the reg. season.

but tmac is capable of being the best player any given night. it's just whether he's healthy enough.

but based on performance, he's the 3rd best g/f right now after kobe and lebron.

 

I couldn't agree more. It's not even close. Ask any non-Rocket fan and any non-Laker fan and they'll all pick Kobe. Even better, ask any non-R or non-L player, coach, analyst and they'll say the same thing.

Tmac will always have his critics; but that is only because everyone sees how great he can be, when he wants. As long as he brings it in the playoffs, I don't mind him taking a couple or 30 games off during the regular season.

Kobe doesn't disappear for the lack of trying. He also drives more often into the lane despite back pains.

I'd rather share a beer with Tmac...heck I'd piss in Kobe's beer, but his competitiveness can't be denied.

 

Tracy is a better passer, a better midrange shot and better dunker. Rebounding finishing, threes, picking up fouls its Kobe

 

I think the question should be who would be better if Tracy didnt have a bad back. But anyway I'll Tracy would be.

 

But thats only because Tracy have had injuries over the past few seasons. Let me put it this way ask that same quesion about Tracy when he was in his hey day without all the injuries. Then see how close it would be.

 

i don't really need to read this thread to figure out the people who's got the word "TMAC or mac"etc in their name will vote for Tmac.

but then again, these idiots think TMAC 'in his hey day' was better than Hakeem.
