Hate to say this at this time. I am in no way against the trade. Actually I am all for it. But I think it is better to forewarn all the enthusiastic fans.

T-Mac is still immature, mentally. From all the problems he has had with the management, coach, teammates. Even for the trade, he has given too many different versions of what he wanted--the latest being he and Shaq join the Mavs. How well he'll handle his relationships with coach and teammates are remained to be seen, especially when things don't go well.

So both our stars are immature, in different ways -- Yao is not there yet in his game and experience, although I'd say he's more mature than T-Mac mentally. So we'll see some ups and downs.

Just hope the team will mesh well fast and things will work out. I don't see an ego clash between the two tho like Shaq and Kobe, because Yao is truly unselfish and good at handling people and T-Mac is after all a good kid.

You know, I honestly thought that he was immature too. But after watching the ESPN interview (see sig for quote), I think he'll do fine. He was asked about defense and he said it's hard to score 30, 40 on one end and then go guard the other team's best player on the other. Cut him some slack; with a big man anchoring the middle, TMac could become a very good perimeter defender. He and Yao can "mature" together; if they don't, JVG will find a way to MAKE them mature quickly.

Whether TMac is immature or not . . . your post has ne factual evidence . . . just conclusionary opinions and hearsay.

If your trying to make a point, make it with arguements backed with some facts, not you meaningless opinion and baseless conclusions.

Most men in their early 20s are quite immature. Nothing shocking here.

Do the other oldtimers vividly recall Hakeem's early years?

People who get sold on one interview about someone are pretty immature themselves. ;)

yep, have to consider that tmac is only a few years removed from high school and at the age of 25 is not perfectly mature yet.

hell , if we can help us win, it shouldn't be a giant factor :]

    lol point well taken.

It was my first real exposure to the type of guy he is, so I don't have anything else to judge it on. I refuse to judge him on the Orlando papers and ESPN message boards.

OK, so who do you think did a better job with the trade steve or tracy? From my view tracy kept his mouth shut up till the trade was done.....what about CAT AND CATO,,,,,OH YEAH THEY DID THE SAME ALSO......I understand your point but from what I have seen tracy has grown very much and is still doing it.....Keep in mind aslong as he pushes himself plays rocketball and wins games who cares... Funny most people who are saying t-mac is immature never say how shaq is 10x as immature (the TOE, his talks after games, the talks of kobe, his big mouth durring games..EX..), but he has the rings to back him up. I feel that tracy will shut people up just as shaq does if he can make our team that much better.........................................

You're kidding right? "I'm so glad to finally have gotten into the 2nd round," after being up 3-1 on the pistons only to lose 4-3, "I've given retirement some thought" after his team is truly at the bottom of the barrel. From what I've seen, McGrady doesn't take losing very well.

That, IMO, is very immature because everybody loses in the NBA at one point or another.

With that said, I'm very excited about this season, I can't wait to see the McGrady-Ming combo get to work. Perhaps T-Mac will mature into a great leader this coming season.

    [IMG] Bad enough?!
Hmm. Let's not kid ourselves. By 25, you're not a young kid anymore. You're a man. You're too old to blame school or mommy and daddy anymore, and you're fair game for criticism.

That said, I love you T-Mac!

This is very much the case of "the devil you know vs. the devil you don't." Steve and Cuttino are a lot to give up for McGrady. T-Mac is better than either individually, but it evens out when both guys are considered. Whichever way you go, at WORST the Rockets stayed pretty even talent-wise.

If McGrady signs for a deal comparable (in length) to the one Francis had, then there really can't be any major complaints. It becomes a matter of seeing whether things work or they don't. Given the "issues," both there and here, a clean slate is probably the best for both the majors.

IMHO, this is it for JVG. If he doesn't "win and win now" (50-win regular season, at least the second round of the playoffs?), he will be gone next offseason.
