thanks god for you brooksball keep mcgrady there for the entire game 6 and 7(if there's one) he can make 70% of those shots if he's agressive...damn, from there he can find the open guy and even go for the offensive board we MUST not trade tmac even if we lose...this game just showed me he is still a ****ing big superstar
He's been in that position since game 3...nothing new. Just tonight he didn't go through a 0-5 type stretch to fu*k up his shooting %.
why always wondered why this team walked away from mac in the high post in this series.... That is the position where he is the most dominant....
I don't often say this but... you are right. In all seriousness, it worked perfectly. We got contributions and we blew the Jazz out. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, still a big game 6, but I'm proud of our guys.
I agree T-mac in the high post is good in many ways..1) mostly because T-mac has very good passing ability, rivaling that of Vlade Divac's and Chris Webber's..
Defenses can't stop that even if they try. If they try to double T-Mac before he gets the ball, even an average PG will find the open guy. If they double him after he gets the ball, T-Mac is incredibly long and a brilliant passer. He will find the open guy. If they don't double him after he gets the ball, he can... A. raise up and shoot B. make a pass C. make one move and get to the basket D. make one move then pass it to a cutter or a perimeter shooter No more T-Mac trying to dribble past double teams on the perimeter. Let the PG initiate the offense and let T-Mac post up high or come off a screen. Tracy's game is 18 feet and in. He can shoot the occasional 3 but we are not maximizing his talent if we let him try to be our PG, even if he is pretty decent at it.
I've always said that, put him in the post and let him work, it is the best option for McGrady because he can shot, he can drive and he is tall and strong enough. It is especially effective when his shot (like tonight) is on. He can just raise over his defender and he can simply make every jumpshot from that spot. It opens up so many weapons.
That pump fake, spin around, and bank shot he did at the end was jaw-dropping. He did it so quick and smoothly. Damn was it sexy.
He was also in the low post....which worked well too. Look it is not Tmac in either post that won the game it was TMAC playing off the ball. DD
That is correct. Playing off the ball is the key. Typically, players getting the ball in the post are playing off the ball. Regardless, that is more accurate. T-Mac playing off the ball is what is important, whether it is in the high-post, low-post, coming off screens, etc...
I thought the "motion offense" was in effect... until the Rockets were dominating, we didnt see that Tmac get the ball for 16 seconds a nd shoot it... but we saw him move around in screens and open up the defense for Scola and other players
T-Mac wasn't playing off the ball...any shots he got were from his doing in an iso situation in the high post (and earlier in the game off the PNR). He rarely got any catch and shoot oppertunities. Just because he didn't have to do quite as much ballhandling and just because our offense was rolling doesn't mean he played off ball.
Playing off the ball means that he is the designated finisher.......either in low post or high post. He was not asked to be the facilitator at the top of the key tonight that much and THAT was the key. DD
This is not true...playing off ball is having shots created for you. No shots were created for T-Mac...he had to create everything he got. He simply got put in a different position than where he usually is to do what he always does, which is look to make the correct basketball play. It was also the key to our failures in the first 2 months and game 4. The Jazz defense was weak tonight and T-Mac was on fire....when the Jazz defense is stifling and T-mac is off, you get what happenned in game 4...the ball sticks and everyone stands around watching T-Mac.
