So now that T-Mac's gone and Ariza is shooting a worse fg% than me in middle school how do we move on? Of course C-Bud will get more time but how about Jermaine though? Does Adelman have issues with him ? He's shown potential in the summer league yet he hasn't been sent to the D-league (p.s. The number 3 is cursed)
I think that now that McGrady is gone, so goes the charade that Adelman wants to give JT playing time.
He would probably fit in ok. Athletic guy, aggressive, can jump out of the building. But if you ask Rick about him in the rotation, it would go something like- I don't know. Or I'm not sure. What is he ever sure about?
Even after yesterday's magnificent 5-15 game from Ariza, Adelman encouraged his play, and that driving dunk he had late in the 4th. I don't think there's any sign towards his minutes decreasing. He'll get a bulk of the minutes with Battier, we'll see Lowry some at the two guard, and Budinger when he returns will take the rest. Jermaine Taylor should be where he belongs so far in hsi rookie season..on the bench.
Honestly if 5-15 was in the bottom range of Ariza's performances I dont think we would have a problem. Its probably in the top half of all his shooting performances of this year. Taylor can probably put the ball in the hoop a bit more effectively but trails behind him in too many other areas to take his minutes.
Snyder wasn't our draft choice, much less Morey's, and I believe we were his 3rd team. JT may or may not ever be a good NBA player, but it's ridiculous to declare Budinger a future all-star or declare JT a bust. But I'm sure you've already shot off an email to Morey because you're sure he was a moron to take JT before Budinger.
I don't call people morons for having differing opinions. I think JT needs a lot more seasoning and needs to learn how to play off the ball. IMO, he should be in the D-league playing every single day. DD
Only thing is, sending him down to the D-league won't teach him how to play off the ball. He would probably be a D-league star a la James White. Thus never really learning the things he needs to transition to the team as a role player.
Give Trevor some time, we aren't going to win the title this year anyway. Let him develop the rest of this season and in the 1st or 2nd round of playoffs. Much better player when Yao comes back.
Tmac isnt gone yet. Fans keep forgetting there's no deal done and morey is only trying to put something together. Also, if he is traded, we dont know who we're getting back...that should affect JT, but let's wait until something actually happens first.
I don't have any details of JTs personality so this is just my assumption based on a couple of things. He was the star of his team in college and one of the leading scorers in NCAA last year. On top of that you don't get to the leauge without having some kind of ego. It should be humbling him riding the pine a bit his rookie year. #ImJustSaying (sorry twitter habit) I like the way the it worked out for AB so I don't mind JT catching pine in year one. To me its saying we know you have the talent, so just sit and watch how a pros pro like Battier works everyday.
At this point in Landry's rookie season, he had played a total of 17 minutes. At this point in Kevin Martin's rookie season, he had played a total of 36 minutes. JT is a rookie 2nd rounder, he's warming the bench, fetching donuts, and hopefully learning some stuff like rookie 2nd rounders should be doing. I don't know if he'll pan out or not, but it's too early to be worried about how JT fits in. I know Daryl Morey's draft history is pretty good, but Morey does not have magic power to make 2nd round rookie NBA ready like rookie Tim Duncan.
