About a year ago, I made a thread here about trading Brad Miller to Houston as the backup of Yao. That thread was deleted by the administrator because it sounded ridiculous. Now it's time to get the dude. Ben Gordon is a real scorer, and Miller could be a starting center. If we get ben gordon, then let Artest go, and sign Gortat! Gortat or Miller, who plays the starting center, we will see!
    The lineup should be:
    Brad Miller/Gortat
    Scola/Landry/Hayes
    Shane Battier/James White
    Ben Gordon/Chase Budinger
    Brooks/Lowry

i dunno man - the team looks pretty thin.

You're basically throwing away the McGrady, Artest and Wafer for Ben Gordon.

Ben can score - but he's 6'3. He's not a noted defender and would be on a pretty long term contract.
It's stuff up our cap situation for quite a while - and it wouldn't make us contenders!

If Yao is done for the season or even a part of it, we are pretty much forced to have a player who can lead a team. Can Artest do that? I doubt. Will he stay? I don't know.

But right now it looks like Morey in this situation will keep Tracy and hope that he will be back at the beggining of the year.

I would do this deal no doubt. Gordon can score, has high FT%, high FG%, and moves without the ball. Miller isn't really what I want and his contract sucks but if it means dumping a T-mac I'm all for it.

There are only two reasons TMac has any value.

    1. His expiering contract.
    2. He might be worth something to a really bad team needing to pick up a cheap, fake star to market their season around even though they know they are terrible.

I'd take anything for him at this point just to be rid of him.

Well then I'm sure glad you're not our GM.

NEWSFLASH: we're "rid of him" in 12 months - his contract is expiring and brings $23million reasons to hang on to him rather than pick up $23million dollars worth of other contracts that continue for another few seasons.

I'd certainly make a deal, but, like Morey, I'm not going to take crud contracts just for the sake of dumping McGrady. That would be insane.

That's why you are not a GM.

Hey I'm not saying you throw him away for junk, and to be honest, I don't know that we'll be in a great position WHEN we let him walk anyway.

I think we'll be pretty lucky if we can be making plays at the top players in the big spend up that will happen after the next off season. I have a feeling that free agent class is going to be a bit of a let down and very few players will actually be looking to leave their current clubs.

On top of that you'd have to wonder if these free agents will be looking at Houston and having questions now about Yao.....I dont like the idea of banking on what if's when you could use the little value TMac has left and be in control of your next move.

I just think that right now TMac is a bit of a cancer, he doesnt get it done for us on the court when it matters, he threw the club under a bus by going out and getting that surgery done just before the trade deadline.....if we could move him for a player that can actually contribute something positive, I'd do it.

No to Ben Gordon. I'd rather do a 3-way with Detroit, let them have a re-signed Gordon and we take back Brad Miller and RIP...........along with a re-signed Artest.

Better yet, I am holding out for a deal for Chris Bosh. It would be interesting to see if he would be willing to sign a long term deal here. He holds a lot of leverage right now. Once BC determines that Bosh is gone, that he is really determined to opt out and leave town, he will have to move him. And Bosh will only be moveable to a team that can re-sign him so they are gong to have to find out who those teams are. I suspect Bosh has Dallas on his short list. But we can hope that we are on his list also. If so, send out McGrady and Landry for Bosh, Evans, Marcus Banks, and a future first.

Why would CHI do this? Grady's primary value is an expiring contract for a team interested in cap space for the Summer of LeBron. Miller (like Grady) is expiring after 2009-10 and if the Bulls let Gordon sign with the Pistons they get that cap space immediately. There is absolutely NO incentive for the Bulls to do this deal.

Exactly, this scenario has about as much chance of playing out as I have of replacing Yao.

Personally, I would rather have Brad Miller and John Salmons. I think Salmons is a better overall player and he was clutch in the playoffs last year. He finally got starter's minutes and was able to produce while being extremely efficient and consistent. It would be great if we could resign Artest too after making that trade but I don't know if it's possible. I'm not sure Chicago would do this though since they think they still have a chance for some reason. They should think about getting rid of someone in their backcourt though. They have Rose, Hinrick, Gordon, Salmons, and Luol Deng who all need minutes. Unfortunately they probably would rather part with Gordon and/or Hinrich.

My hope is that we can somehow trade for an up and coming player like Salmons or Iguodala (dreaming). Someone who is underrated/overlooked around the league but not by Morey. I am pretty sure he is looking for players like this to replace McGrady but they are hard to come by. My wishlist for Rockets either by trade or 2010 FA:

    Salmons
    Iguodala
    Joe Johnson
    Gerald Wallace
    Kevin Martin
    Ryan Gomes
    Luol Deng
    Brandon Rush

I like your deals in your signature area. Trade TMac for Amare and Barbosa, sign Gortat, and resign Artest, this will be a very competitive team till Yao comes back to finish off the season.

The back court would be way too small .

I've never liked Gordon's game at all. I've always seen him as a selfish player. He gets his and doesn't worry about the other guys. He always puts up some wild shots and it seems to me that he never passes the ball.
