when i used to manage the Hofstra Basketball team (speedy's school), you would be allowed to shoot FT's if your back hurt, but not jumpers. and if your knee hurt, you can't even practice FT's. i can only assume that the rockets medical staff would be more cautious than a college team. if tmac is shooting jumpers then he must be on his way back for sure. sounds like we may see him back before 3 weeks. but in the long run wouldn't we all rather him take his time coming back?
I would bet he's back way before 3 weeks. TMac is after greatness. He's gonna push it to get back so this team can stay afloat and crack 60 wins. I think he's determined to get the #1 seed and he's gonna push it this whole season.
I'm not a doctor but I wouldn't dig too much into this. I would still plan on him being out for 3 weeks. Just as long as he comes back by Nov 23rd because I have SWEET seats for that game.
And break down at the end of the season? I dunno, it would suck to have to watch 3 weeks worth of basketball without McGrady, but it would be a lot better if it gave us the real Tmac for the playoffs rather than a Bob Sura version of McGrady.
Man I sure hope that the rest of the team can muster up some wins. The last thing we need is to have T-mac rushing back before he's ready.
Remember the injury is spinal muscle contusions. That means he had some deep bruising along the musclues of the spine and not the spine itself. Deep brusies in the back take time to heal, but they are just bruises. It is just a matter of when those heal enough for him to feel better and they are certain there isn't the potential of further damage. It isn't like he has any structural problems or damage to the spine or musculature. That's a really good thing.
glad to hear it. Speaking of sore backs, I woke up today and my back felt like hell. I couldn't turn around (twist my spine). It hurt so bad. I felt like i had a couple of 2 by 4's on either side of my spine making me walk like a chopstick.
Very good news. This means he will be able to stay in at least some kind of shape and continue his shooting drills.
i think our team could use some toughness and more grit. I also don't want tmac injuring himself again and want him to take his time on the recovery. Therefore, I'm fine with us having to rough it out for a few weeks, there was a bit too much confidence in preseason and so far Swift is no answer to our problems if Juwon is doing substantially better than him.
as much as i love to see tmac suits up and play, i hope he doesn't rush it for the short term gain, but having bigger problem down the road. we need a healthy tmac more later on and when playoff comes. besides, it might be good for the rest of the team to grow, especially yao's growing into a real team leader with tmac on the sideline. it's only the begining of the season anyway.
Well, fortunately with the new rules, he can theoretically try to give it a go one game, and if he's hurting the next morning, he can go inactive, and pretty much move forward for the next few weeks with that in mind. Beats the hell outa putting him on the IL for a few weeks and not even having the option of suiting up.
I think I'm gonna cry because the only time I got to see TMac and Yao in person this year, he's not gonna play.
