I know this is WAYYY early, but one of the things I'm looking really forward to next year is our Allstar game here in town.. My question is we all talk how the dunk contest would be soooo much better if the headline players were in it, does anyone else think T-Mac would do it this year being that it is at home and all... or is this just a pipe dream??

I think the participants should be:

    1. T-Mac
    2: Vince Carter
    3: Lebron James
    4: Jason Richardson
    5: Josh Smith
    6: Desmond Mason
    7: Kobe Bryant
    8: Andre Iguodala

That would be a sick lineup. Just say no to Chris Anderson when it comes to dunk events.

TMac can't do it, the Dunk Contest is now the "Rising Stars" dunk contest, in which only players 3 years in the league or younger can participate.

The Dunk contest has become a joke though. The NBA should be kissing Josh Smith's feet for the performance he put on last year, it has been downhill ever since the Carter/Francis/TMac contest years back.

And yes, NO CHRIS ANDERSON!! That guy made a mockery of the game.

Tmac isnt going to do the Dunk competition. But hopefully he will be listed as a Guard and not a forward on the all star ballot so he doesnt have to compete with Duncan and Garnett on the ballot.

Also, Rockets fans should hope that Luther Head and his 38 inch verticle competes in the dunk competition and has a good half-season to be on the Rookie Team.

I would like to see Mobley in the 3 point contest and Francis in the dunk contest since they both live here (and are former Rockets)

... but if they do that silly "rising stars" thing - I will pass

Chances are they will. So expect to see Josh Smith, JR Smith in it...and probably Igoadala as well. How the hell was he left out? For fun they could put Nate Robinson in it. At 5'8" and the fact he can dunk I am sure will get people excited about that; thinking back to the Spud Webb days.

Duncan and Garnett should be worry about T-Mac listed as a forward, not T-Mac. With T-Mac's popularity in China, there's no way Duncan and Garnett will get more votes than T-Mac. Heck, maybe Swift could possibly be voted in by the Chinese fans if he signs up with the Rockets.

It's too bad about the dunk contest now. It should be open to ALL players. This is the ALL-STAR weekend, not the 'new kid on the block' weekend.

I agree- The Stevie-TMac-Carter Dunk jam was the best of the modern era. And Stevie got robbed.

I bet Gerald Green is in the dunk contest. He won the dunk contest at the McDonalds All-American and he definitely meets the "rising star" criteria.

It doesnt matter if it is open to all players or not. The reality is that many of the "established" players are AFRAID of going to the dunk competition. It is "high risk" (i.e. afraid they will lose or look bad) versus low reward.

For the younger players the dunk competition is a "spring board" to stardom. Now we all know who Josh Smith is.

Can't wait for the All-Star game to come home to Houston, does anyone know how to go about getting tickets? I got no experience with these sort of high-demand events, will tickets be hard to come by or could I pick some up at Ticketmaster, etc.?

I love having two All-Stars o the team. It makes watching the game like watching a Fantasy Rockets Team like I put together on NBA 2K5.

Well, I bet TMac would want to do it if they let Shawn Bradley be his assistant.. ;)

I wish they would have a 1 on 1 type of game durring the weekend.. bring in the best at each position

    Yao vs Shaq

    T-Mac vs Kobe

    Nash vs. Iverson

    KG vs. Duncan

    Bron vs. Allen

    ex..

    ex..

but you would need to have atleast 4-6 players at each spot and make it a playoff style of quick games to 5

Now I would LOVE to see something like that!!

this is not to say that steve's dunks weren't difficult - they were. but they were all the same! same ol, throw it in the air, let it bounce, finish strong. the truth is, if you can't palm the ball, you are at a huuuuuge disadvantage - i'll say it's almost impossible to win. (was there anyone that won who couldn't palm the ball?) you're limited to so many dunks, as seen with steve.

and that 3 years and younger rule needs to go. what good could possibly come from that? you gotta wonder what some of those people are thinking sometimes.....
