Not sure if any of you caught it on the radio this morning, but there was a small snippet of T-Mac speaking on how he felt a lot closer to being his old self. You could sense anxiety in his voice. Man, I felt so much better just hearing him say that. Anyway, just some good news to me. Maybe this means, barring any freak accidents, he'll be as close to 100% as he'll be soon. That bodes very well for this team.
You could definitely tell he was much better the way he attacked the basket in the first quarter. He was so much more explosive and resilient than he was against Memphis. He still needs to get his game legs back, but he definitely embarassed Paul Pierce last night.
OH yeah, i noticed. The first alley-oop to T-Mac, he couldn't quite throw it down. I thought, "Man, he still needs to get his legs under him." Just goes to show you, he was still awesome, and not even at full capacity. Watching Pierce and McGrady go at it was entertaining. Especially watching Pierce getting frustrated. T-Mac played great D at times. he's still slow at times, gettin driven on now and again. Nothing against Pierce, he's a hell of a player.
In my opinion, T-mac gave up after the 1st quarter in Memphis. That's why he didn't look very explosive that game. But it was great to see him back on top of his game.
Disagree, he isn't the T-Mac of old, not even close. Despite his team sucking in Orlando, the way McGrady just tore it up in his first few seasons in Orlando was the "T-MAc of old" (If you want to see how McGrady can play when he has his health and can use that explosive athleticism of his, watch some of those games). Remember, he literally had 3-4 players guarding him at all times in Orlando, and still managed to average over 30ppg. With that being said, however, I will take the current older, wiser (albeit slower) T-Mac over the Orlando T-Mac
They aint got **** on T-mac. He can take over any game at will when he's healthy. Hell, he can do even when he's hurt.
they give all players some trouble...however T-MAC would abuse artest , but still score 25 on T.prince
I may be wrong but the one person that I saw guard mcgrady well is Garnett. The games I saw he defended him really well. Garnett is almost as quick and longer. I'd imagine Tayshaun giving him the same problem with his length but I think t-mac can handle artest. The one main thing that t-mac has is mega range on his shot to go along with his elevation and length. Ray Allen has range but he's not as long or tall as t-mac. Artest will be able to shut down guards/forwards who drive a lot and have mediocre jumpshots. I'll definitely keep my eye on those matchups though. I wouldn't want to meet artest or tayshaun . "And that is why no one will remember your name" *sniff* *sniff*
It would be so much nicer if you used your first 25 posts or so as a way to acclimate yourself with the forum as opposed to spewing hate. I'm still waiting for your first positive post. If memory serves me correctly, T-Mac has scored 40+ a combined 4-6 times against Artest (Bulls [50 pts]+Pacers) and Prince (2003 playoffs). Bottomline is, when Tracy is confident and healthy (which are tough to obtain right after an injury), there's nobody than can check him. Best pure scorer in the game
The thing is T-mac doesnt play the same way as his best years, and Prince and artest got much better. Last meeting with Pistons Mac only got 2 points, and 1-9 shooting (something like that), and Prince ran him over on our defensive end, posting him up, driving by him, i know he was hurt, but he gotta be better than 2 points. I sure hope he 'd do good with those matchups, but it's a different day now who knows whats gonna happen. We just need put eyes on these matchups and let the facts prove whos right and whos wrong. And i may add, the reason i am saying this is, i am not satisfied everyone says how dominate he is just because he scored 35 last night, Bostons defense sucks @ss. Wait for him score 35 points on a defensive team like pistons, then we may say "T-mac is back to his oldself".
And what about Artest shutting down LeBron James? How about Prince putting the clamps on Allen Iverson, of all people, as he did two years ago? Don't mean to be a homer, but if there is any Rocket who has earned the right to avoid stupid criticism like this, it's Mac. Wait, I just realized, 17 posts. OK, got it. Hmm, yes.
If you want to see a guy who can potentially shut T-Mac down take a look at Darius Miles. He's quick and long enough to bother T-Mac even when he elevates. Of course Miles might be looking at knee surgery, so I don't think he'll be playing when we play Portland next.
