i got some buddies that are playing during SXSW.... http://www.houseofmoist.com they're gonna play 2 shows
Watch out for the drunken drooling record execs on one of their annual expense-paid benders! I wouldn't want you to get puked on.
No one with half a brain pays for SXSW. There are free shows every day, then you can get into a lot of the shows at night for free, plus all the free beer you can drink.
I would love to see the Wildhearts ... didn't realize they had other fans here. Wish they weren't playing at EMO's though. I'm hoping they'll sell some of their import CDs at the show. Let me know if you wanna meet up or something...
Rhett Miller Friday, March 19 at 10:00 p.m. at Cactus Cafe The Haden Triplets Saturday, March 20 at 9:00 p.m. at Buffalo Billiards Miss Murgatroid & Petra Haden Saturday, March 20 at 10:00 p.m. at Buffalo Billiards Old 97's Saturday, March 20 at 11:00 p.m. at Stubb's Rock Four Saturday, March 20 at 1:00 a.m. at Pecan St. Ale House Seriously, you should all check out the Haden triplets. They are freakishly good (and good looking), and UTWeezer, if you are a Weezer fan, you should know that Petra Haden played on a few Weezer and Rentals songs. -Z
dude the Wildhearts are playing with one of my good friends gf's band... The winks... It's a free show at Tower Records, I think during the day on Friday...let me find out more info... btw, they released a US version of Riff after Riff on Gearhead, it came out yesterday. You should be able to find it anywhere.
Yeah, I just saw that shortly after this thread.....already ordered! They need to start releasing their back catalogue in the US as well...or at least a Greatest Hits, or something. Love to hear about the Tower thing. Doubtful I'll be able to go if it's during the day, but would appreciate the info if you've got it. Thanks!
It's only a good deal if there are shows that you actually want to see. Otherwise it is a waste of time and money, as SXSW has turned into nothing more than an opportunity for record execs to get loaded on the record company dime.
Again, only fools pays for SXSW. The bracelet doesn't gurantee you entry into any show since industry types get first dibs. Theoretically, you could waste your money on a bracelet and not get into a single show you want to see. All you have to do is show up and you'll likely make your way into any show for free as long as you're not beligerent.
while the showcases with more popular groups might fill up, if you get there early enough you will never have any problems. in 8 years of attendance i can only think of a handfull of times when i have not been able to see a group that i wanted to see. you must be pretty well conected if you can get into any show w/out a wristband or badge. the sxsw people are real sticklers about just letting people in for free. maybe you are refering to the myriad of parties and free shows during the day?
did you get the album? I think it's great, but not as good as Earth vs.... Are you going to see them at emos?
