basketballers should recognize what is happening defensively with the sengun adams pairing they are playing match up zone mostly against other inferior double bigs with the opponent reserve perimeter players on court will this work against better teams with great perimeter play 4 guys that can shoot and agreat paint defender rim protector the sengun adams lineup is all about dominating possessions and getting maximum boards and basically crushing the opponent defense in the paint while the match up zone allows us to provide multiple rim running obstacles to guys like zion that are not shooters is it sustainable against guys like luka sga kd steph spida and other teams that shoot the heck out of it will time be willing to play match up zone for much greater minutes thinking about the future design of the team here not just adams era if we acquire rw3 another great offensive rebounder and rim paint defender who in my opinion is a very switchable defender them it gets real interesting with the defensive scheme especially since match up zone and man to man switching can look deceptively alike from the playmaker perspective before they get into the offensive action and then the ability to seamlessly switch into either style defense very tantalizing with the right second big I can only dream the nightmare of the 21 draft so many times when i wanted both mobley and sengun out of that draft discuss
It wont work against elite shooting teams with elite perimeter players. We will just get shot out of the gym or blown by to the rim on repeat. It will work against inferior teams who are just aggressively sagging off and putting 4-5 defenders in the paint begging the rockets to shoot to completely nullify Sengun and our athletic driving perimeter players (Jalen and Amen). Just playing bully ball to counter it.
It worked against a healthy Dallas team. Remember that Davis discomforted his intestines reaching over when Sengun drove past him while trying to also keep a body on Aquaman. Contrary to the belief of some loud posters, you can't guard 2 players at the same time. It will always gets you out of position. It can definitely work against good shooting teams. It just has to be in spurts. 13 minutes of game time at most. A little more vs The Vancouver Grizzlies & Magic XXL line up Aquaman Sengun Jabari Brooks Green PG (now looks to hit the roll man more after the talk with Ime)
Ime's response here makes me think it could work against good shooting teams if we have Amen and Tari on- court.
