So the new rule that you can keep your number apparently went into effect yeseterday. I am thinking of switching. The Verizon I have is decent enough, but myswell try some other things out.

I have looked into 2 phones on Amazon:

First, the Sony Ericcson T610 offered by T-Mobile. It seems to be the "IT" phone right now, and, after rebates, its free. Does anyone know anything about this phone and/or carrier?

The other is the http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...9138/br=1-3/ref=br_lf_w_3/104-8529056-3582351 Samsung E715 also by T-Mobile. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles, but apparently has better "brightness" and sound quality and has graet reviews.

Does anyone know which one is better? Does anyone know if there is going to be some really great new things coming out in the upcoming months?

Both of those phones were on my list to get, but I need Bluetooth, so the Samsung is out of the picture. I like the T610, but I've heard that it's difficult to see if you're using it outside or heck, while driving. And that Sony joystick thing on it looks so cheesy. Motorola is supposed to be releasing a pretty sweet one in about a month or two.... I may just wait for that unless some great deals show up.

What exactly does Bluetooth do and why would I need it?

Most people don't need it. Bluetooth, to put it simply, is like a wireless protocol that allows all kinds of gadgets connect and communicate with one another. I have a friend with a Bluetooth-enabled PDA (an iPaq) that he uses to control his Bluetooth-enabled TV - it behaves as a remote.

My car has a Bluetooth interface for cell phones. What that means is that I can connect my phone to the car and its speakers using no wires. From that point on, I can make or receive calls via the car's speakers without taking my hands off the wheel or picking up the actual cell phone.

Yes, it's a geek thing.... it's not like I ever make calls while driving anyway. :)

bluetooth is sweet, but i foresee security problems in the future. I can just imagine walking through a very large crowds and phones infecting eachother with viruses, stealing info from cellphones, or whatever someones deminted mind might want to do.

610 has bluetooth that you might want if ur PDA or computer also has it, or if ur frenz have bluetooth phones. (its kinda like a IR port and a WIFI port put together)

    E715 is OK

but also check out the motorolla v300
and ofcourse you have to check out the 3650 by nokia...

heres an awesome site with sweet deals if u dont mind buying off the internet http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...sr_45_1__x107_tcell_phone/002-3587352-0978463

Not worth buying, You'd be better off getting a cell and an Ipod(or another equally good HD based MP3 player)

And if you are switching from Tmobile to Sprint I have one word for you ----- SUCKER

U will regret losing your sim card and also you're one year contract ;)
