Swift is denying rumors that he would pull out of the draft to avoid playing for the Clippers.

He's also saying he'd fit in well with Vancouver and that he likes it there. He's visiting a number of teams now, and as long as he's confident he'll go in the top five, will come out.

Vancouver is also very high on him, so I doubt he'll go past 2 or 3, or that the Rockets will get a chance at him. He's beginning to be viewed as a "franchise player," that will take a couple years to develop.

Damn! Well, that's the end of that. I really felt his threatening to pull out of LAC was our one chance to land him.

I don't see any of the top three trading down. Why should they, unless they're getting franchise quality in return?

NJ "might" trade down but only for Orlando's 3 picks (5,10,13) which has been offered them.

What happens to Abdur-Rahim? Interesting. He would most assuredly play behind SAR. I wonder if he is good enough to start somewhere else? Say....Houston?

Swift impresses me...but would he accept a bench role in which he would not get much PT in Vancouver? I suppose the same goes for LAC. They would have Odom playing in front of him.

Abdur-Rahim and Odom both play the 3, while Swift is supposed to be a NBA 4. Right?

I had heard that Swift will likely play 3 and 4 interchangeably.....I have heard argument that he will play 3 and I have heard he will play the 4.

Michael Murphy was on Section 610 the other day (sidenote: they did a mock draft on air and had Fizer falling all the way past the Rockets-they didn't want him either)
but anyway, Murph said that he thought Swift should definitely play the 3 in the NBA. I think interchangeably at first, but once he develops an outside shot and stronger ballhandling, he would be an awesome 3.

Actually most teams see Swift as 4 because he has the defensive skills already to play the position and his quickness makes him tough for 4s to guard him. Swift will need to add muscle, but once he does, he will be a McDyess or Wallace type of 4.

im just telling you what Michael Murphy said. He is a respected NBA analyst. Like you, however, I had projected Siwft as a 4. But if he could play the three I think he could really dominate if his game improved in those areas.

JZ, I've heard Orlando offered the #5 and #10, but not all three.

NJ should take all three IF Orlando offered them IMO. They could take 1 player that would almost assuredly have an impact, take another player as a risk with alot of upside and take the "sure thing". I think NJ would do well with that trade.

Fine, so Swift can play both three and four. The point is, if he's with Van, which is very likely, he'll start at the 4. It would be silly for him to sit on the bench because SAR happens to be starting at the 3. Who should start at 4 ahead of Swift? Harrington?

SAR plays SF. Swift is definetely a 4 in the NBA. I think they would have a great team with Swift in the line-up.

C Reeves
PF Swift
SF SAR
SG Dickerson
PG Bibby

this is a very young team with a lot of talent..I don't see Vancouever passing on Swift.

As a Grizz fan and Vancouverite I can tell you the feeling about Swift is that he is a combo forward much like Shareef is. If Swift develops a jumper he might be better suited for the SF but if continues to add some bulk to his body he will be a PF.

As for starting. The talk in the Grizzlies community is that he will probably start on the bench for at least the first 10 games or so and Grant Long will be starting as he will bring more of a stabalizing influence to the floor and releave the pressure on Swift.

One problem: based on what people are saying about Swift and his workouts, he may move ahead of Kenyon and be headed to NJ (or Orlando).
