I know nothing about Oregon except for what I've read. From what I've read they sound like a Kansas or OU (good guards, running game) without good post players and no defense. Is anyone giving Texas a chance in this game? I haven't been watching any sports shows.
I'm giving UT a shot in this game. Also, Kent State will beat Pittsburgh, and Indiana could possibly beat Duke. Mizzou over UCLA, and there's a possibility that both S. Illinois and Illinois win.
I like Kent St and Mizzou. I think the Salukis finally go home. Texas could do it, but I don't know if that's just homerism talking.
doh! Really, I'm an OU fan and I still think UT can beat Oregon, although I picked Oregon to go to the championship, UT has a chance of winning...
I've seen a little of them so all my observations could just have been just an atypical portion of their play. They didn't seem as quick as Kansas and OU (I could be wrong since the game cameras weren't as close as I'm use to), but were dead-on balls accurate. Got to get back to deny fast break. Got to pick up the shooters on the secondary break. Reminded me of the Jazz (on fast breaks only) in that they ran a very efficient fast break, but didn't seem to have blazing speed. They also remind me a very athletic Princeton in the half court. They make it dificult to play man to man. Slow rotations will kill you and you have to watch people cutting to the basket. Fredie should be able to take out one of their shooters if he can keep from getting screened. Hopefully, TJ can wear out the legs of the PG. Hopefully the Horns can deny the easy baskets and keep a hand in the face of the three point shooters. With the Horns, I worry about keeping a hand in the face of shooters more than any other aspect of the game.
doh! Really, I'm an OU fan and I still think UT can beat Oregon, although I picked Oregon to go to the championship, UT has a chance of winning... Oh -- I meant MY homerism talking!! I really think UT will win tomorrow, but I don't know if that's based on objective analysis or not. We have issues defending the fast break, I think, and Oregon loves to fast break. That could be a disaster. Our shooters, I think, are also much streakier than Oregon's, so if we're cold, we're in trouble. Then again, I think we can handle any team that doesn't play great defense by going inside, and that's Oregon too.
Give Texas a shot? Heck, I'm still trying to figure out how a team in the Sweet Sixteen lost to the Aggies. I'm an Aggie myself, but you don't know bad basketball 'til you watch the Ags play. At least it seems like they're starting to get better recruits. Arizona over Oklahoma Kentucky over Maryland Not quite sure who the underdog is in UCLA vs. Missouri, but I'll go with UCLA. And yes, I'll grudginly go with TU over Oregon.
Rick Majerus has us losing to Maryland in the Final Four. . . . I think the general prognostication nationwide is, "Flip a coin and take the over".
TX definetly has a chance against Oregon. The Cal Bears (excellent defensive team poor offensive team) played well against them (split the series and even games). Ford should go through Oregon like butter. Stopping Oregon is another story. I look for a toss-up, and would not be surprised at all if Texas beats them. Either team is dead meat for Kansas if they get through the bruising Illini though. Losing 3 times to Kansas (with a close OT in the Erwin Center) on Kansas' way to the final 4 would be eeriliy reminicent of the Strolling Nolen-Pender meetings around 90 or 91.
Also, if Texas wins, its only because Madison is closer to Austin than Eugene is - its an unfair home court advantage.
Hoosiers Win! Absolutly awesome. I think Mr. Wooden will do a back-flip if U.C.L.A. wins tonight. Go Big12! Go Texas!
Anybody out there still claiming to have a perfect bracket is a DAMN LIAR! Kent St. in the Elite 8?! UNREAL! Congrats to the Golden Flashes.
I think I have a solution to my problem. Next year I'll form a group where the person who can pick the worst bracket gets a percentage of the pool! At least it wouldn't be as hopeless as it is for me now. Currently, I have one team in the elite 8 and zero teams in the final four. If UCONN and KU win I'll have three in the eliite 8 and two in the final four. I dare someone to try and come up with worse brackets than that! ...man, do I ever suck!
