if we win #1-3 in the draft, and the griz are then picking behind us, I think we could/should trade the pick to the griz. The deal goes along the following lines: -the rox send #1-3 to the griz for their first pick (top 5) AND cancels the draft pick obligation from the steve francis trade. We still get a good pick and the griz get a better one. If we get #1 & the griz #5, the griz throws in a second round pick as well (not neccessarily this year). -swap KT & Stromile Swift (think that's his name ). This way we get height, and potential talent (the Rox develop big men well... if they have talent (ie. not collier)) for KT who has talent but no height This works for us: we get rid of our draft pick obligation, get a young tall player to develop in a better environment, and still have a high pick for dunleavy or the georgian ballet dancer. We still have the #15 and possibly an extra second rounder. We also don't have to pay KT a big extension. This works for the griz: West wants to remodel as quickly as possible, and the high pick would allow him to get a little jump, especially if it's the #1. KT adds depth, hussel and points to the griz, something it most defintely doesn't have. Is this win-win? Does one team get the better of the other? Is stomile (not) worth the roster spot? Would you pull the trigger on this?
Kenny Thomas is better than Stromile Swift. We nee Kenny Thomas to be involved in better trades, not meaningless ones like these.
Not in another year he won't be. Swift, under the Jerry West regime, will perform up to his potential in Memphis. He has the capability of being a 20 and 10 player; KT certainly cannot be considered in that category. Memphis doesn't need the #1 or #2 pick anyway. Yao won't play there and I doubt they'd take Williams. For what they need, they are a team that doesn't need to move up.
What makes you think that? He has not done anything since he has been in the league. They don't call him Slow mile Swift for nothing!
He showed flashes this year but next year I expect him to be the real deal. He's gonna have Kenny-like numbers next season and the season afterwards he will be like Shawn Marion.
Why? We don't need another power forward. We have Maurice Taylor and Eddie Griffin, which are most likely not going anywhere.
