Has anyone been there? Im going in a couple of months. Any info would be helpful. Any stories? Landing in Puerto Vallarta and then taking a bus to the town.

i've surfed in puerto escondido. scariest surf i've ever ridden. head-to-overhead waves crashing into about 4-and-a-half feet of water! oh, yeah: it hurts.
    good luck.

    Sorry,

Never been to Sayulita. I've mostly been to La Ticla, a little village in Michoacan. Ticla is known for it's long left point break. It was extremely primative and relatively uncrowded when I used to surf there in the late 80's. Looks like it's developed a little bit since then, so it might be a little more crowed, but you you probably won't have to worry about being mauled by an impatient pig looking for breakfast, when you go to take your morning crap. But just to be safe, I wouldn't eat any ham.

La Ticla! (It's usually not this big.)

I also surfed Ixtapa and Zihuatenejo. Both of these were resorts back then and they are probably zoos now.

sounds more like an island off of Thailand than someplace in Mexico.

i went to p.e. a couple years ago - you are a brave man for riding those waves. i couldnt even get knee deep in the waters at the surfing beach without quickly being sucked out by the strong undertow. being from texas, my surfing is pretty limited so i wasnt about to try it. we stuck to body boarding at the other beach about 200 yards to the right. even some of the waves over there were 8-10 feet!

p.e. was great though - like a less touristed version of p. vallarta, and with much better beaches.

friend of mine has surfed sayulita and loved it. she says it's a "long board break", waves usually 5-6 feet, but apparently it's been stormy in the pacific this year. beautiful town as well.
