I'm all for looking at the positive but it kinda disturbs me to see people hyping Sura up to be the savior for our season. I mean come on, its Bobby Sura, a guy who has made 49 3ptrs in the last two seasons while shooting 29.8%...I know thats not a huge deal but everybody usually stresses our pg's ability to knock down the 3ball and Sura just hasn't shown it if you ask me. Also from what I've seen him play he'd totally get hassled by even marginally quick pg's...I have no problem with Sura as a player but take him for what he is, a pretty damn good backup 2 who can pass for a pg for short periods of time (mainly against the other teams backups). I think most of the expectations are from what he did last year in his short stint with the Hawks, but come on it was only 27 games, with the HAWKS of all teams...I mean look at Shareef's numbers with Portland, granted thats not the best situation, compared to those he put up with the Grizz and Hawks...we should expect the same monumental drop off from Bobby if not worse seeing as how he's coming back from an injury.

H'es not gonna save our season, our season doesn't need to be saved. He's an added weapon who will make out team better.

I think Sura, if anything, will add quickness and a good passing eye to the offense, which is never a bad thing.

Hes not the answer, but hell make it less hard to find.

Of the trio Sura, Ward and Lue, Sura should provide more consistency and take some of the playmaking load off of Tmac, and allow us to seriously cut Charlie Ward's minutes.

He is the best available at this time. But would I trade up for some of the names mentioned on the board to play PG? In a NY Knicks minute! I'm sure JVG would too.

Remember it's taken us about 8 years trade and mediocre drafts to get to where we are. JVG can't singhandedly dig us out of that in one year of molding his own team.

True, I think Sura is a nice addition to the team but not our answer at pg...I might be biased being a big Duke fan...but wouldn't duhon be a real good fit for our system, a guy who plays some good D and will have a high assist/TO ratio...thats why I really wish we woulda made a stronger push for damon jones this offseason, he lacks some of the D duhon has but more than makes up for it with his stroke from deep. But anyways, I'd ratha Sura take some of JJ's minutes, I dont get to catch many rockets games being at college in san marcos, but the 4 or 5 i have watched jimmy seems to have lost a step and really trying to force his offense. I could see us slidin tmac to the 3 for short stretches and lettin sura get some minutes at the 2

    Adding Sura will:

    1) Take the "playmaking" responsibility off Tmac some allowing Tmac to roam more offensively. I feel this will allow Tmac to raise his FG%
    2) Give the team another player that can create a shot for themselves and drive to the basket to create opportunities for others. This will really help our offense
    3) Give us more rebounds for a team that his hurting rebounding wise.
    4) Give us more size and quickness of the perimeter
    5) Put Ward on the bench and go with a Lue/Sura PG rotation.

Sura is not the savior. But he will help.

I too am not very optimistic about Sura "solving" our PG problem. He's a nice addition to the team. But he is too erratic to be a consistant starter at the 1.

    6) and he is much better on Defense than both Lue and Ward.

The hype for Sura is being blown out of water. This guy is not a weapon. He's not a scoring threat. It's going to take this guy time to get in shape plus he doesn't no the system. He is not the suvior .

Sura's like Glenn Rice. He looks good when he's playing against the Rocket. Then you get him you say to yourself why isn't he playing as good as he did when he play us. I hope he'll be a great addition but we need to find a point guard. Old, new, through the draft but a real point guard. Bring them in and if they don't work... say next. Keep doing this until one fits. First up is Sura. PS Warden NEXT Lue NEXT

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Sura will also see more open 3's on this team than his past years combined. We'll see if he can knock them down.

I've never really watched Sura play. I mean I have, but didn't pay to much attention to him. If his D is much better than Lue, I'll be exremely happy. To me, Lue is an intelligent pesky defender, although a bit undersized.

Sura will be a nice addition to the team, but he's definitely not the answer, why:

    1. Sura can't shoot, espcially from 3-point land. Sura makes Ward/Lue look like Peja.

    2. He's coming off major back surgery and hasn't played in 2-3 months. It will take a lot time to get him back 100%, and it might not even happen this season, especially if he can't play well at first and ends up in JVG's doghouse (i.e. Pike/Griffin).

I just don't see how anyone can look at Bobby Sura and say he is going to save our team.

I personally suspect Sura's impact on the team will be roughly equal to that of Deke...anything more than that would be a pleasant surprise. Some games non existent, while others he'll be a major contributor...not nearly consistent enough to be a starter for a top level team like us.

Saw Sura defending MJ long time back when he was still with cleveland. The broadcaster was praising him for never backing down.

Lue is way undersized. But he can be used against some short and speedy guys, like AI, Damon, Parker.

    TMac + Yao + Sura + Boki = 4 rings.

If Sura isn't the answer, the I don't know what is(surely not that no practicing fool).

This is where Sura will help the most.

I was looking at the boxscores for the games this year.

We all complain about Yao and his underacheiving at rebounding and about our awful rebounding PFs, and justifiably so. But I noticed another trend in the boxscores.

Maybe it means nothing, but our PGs are outrebounded by the opponents PGs by 3 rb per game. Usually we are outrebounded by much more.

Sura who seems to have some size and rebounding talent should help a lot since Yao has a tendency to tip out. A larger more adept rebounding PG will allow us to get more rebounds from that action. And as I have said before a lot of our rebounds tend to be from jumpshots which cause longer rebounds that Yao will not get to especially when Yao is far away from the basket defending the PNR that he still has problems with.

Personally I can't wait for Sura to get back to help remedy this problem.
