Sura, James, Wesley and Barry can't ALL come back...

Once we have a healthy PF there just will not be enough minutes to go around and it can be assumed that we could use our depth in the backcourt to upgrade in the front court. So who is gone?
    my thoughts:

James make to little and provides way to much spark off the bench. I think out of these 4 he's close to untouchable.

Barry is really not useful to trade since he is a FA and would retire before going someplace else so I hope to see him a Rocket Next year.

It would be really great to have a healthy bobby Sura for a whole year. WHen he came back our offense really started to click. Seeing him at SG with a real pg would be even better but given the right opportunity i can see the rockets dealing him.

Wesley has to be the one you hope the rockets deal. He is a solid player but we have enough guys that can wait for the ball and shoot. Plus the little guy had a hard time scoring on the fast breaks with any mavericks around the basket. He is also the one with the least trade value (maybe more than barry)

It will be interesting to see what happens but i think there is a 0 chance all 4 of these guys are rockets to start next season.

I say keep them and get rid of Moochie, Spoon, Baker, and Ward.

How can you trade something you don't have?

Barry is not a Rocket, so we can't trade him

    1) why are you starting a thread on this (when there are other addressing this isssue

    2) all but Barry are under contract

    3) the minuters were distributed fine this season

    4) considering that those are the only guards on this team are not cast away, ex-knicks

I would say that we can (and will) keep all three

i said Barry was a Free Agent so you really can't do much about him and I don't think there was a game where Howard Sura and James all played. We went small a lot of the time to compensate for Howard's absence.

And most threads deal with who we want, not who we would part with. So if you guys won't trade any of them, how the hell are we going to get anything that is going to help us via trade?

    I second that!

Jon B became one of my favorite players since we acquired him. I love the intensity and creativity he plays with and the goodhumored but professional lockerroom influence he seems to have brought to the team.

If I had to vote, it would be Wesley. He's not as fast as he once was and he isn't getting any younger.

Of course unloading Mooch and Baker would be great.

Actually there were about 3 games when all those guys played and Howard was limited to 20 minutes one game and sura played 20 another. Those are low numbers for starters and while it's nice to be able to play those other guys when sura isnt producing our needs can be better helped by trading one for another big man

I don't think we should get rid of any of them until we have definite upgrades. I know a lot of people think wesley should get the axe (even though he's under contract  ) but he was decent shooter that made few mistakes. Hell, just having a legit power forward would've made a big difference for us... I don't think our backcourt was all that bad.

My guess is that Barry is resigned and either James, Wesley or both are shipped out.

I think some of our shooters consistency problems late in the season had a lot to do with juwon out. W/o 2 consistent rebounders in the paint they had less time to get a good look at the basket. Some nights it affected them dearly and some nights they were just on fire. We can't have off nights like that again so having Howard back healthy or obtaining a legit PF is of utmost importance to our team. I like the guards we have. Most guards on great teams have someone they can funnel the defense into. Yao isn't that person yet but a combination of Yao and and a quality PF will definitely help.

I for one would like to see a PF/SF though I can't think of someone out there that fits that bill in the FA market. That would help with Yao plus give t-mac some rest when he goes out by sliding over to the SF spot.

Mike James will probably stay. Depends on what we can get for him.

David Wesley can still play and has an expiring contract so I see him as most likely to go.

I don't think James is going anywhere.

I think Wesley might get fished.

Why can't they all stay? As I see it are only needs are an athletic power forward who would either start or back up Howard and an athletic swingman to back up T-Mac. These 2 players would replace Padgett/Spoon and Bowen in the rotation.

Dawson is not getting rid of James, he mentioned in an interview that he had been trying to sign him since last season. Unless they find an upgrade over Wesley, or a three to allow Tracy to play the two, I would almost be sure that Barry is the odd man out.

Barry was like 7th in the NBA in 3 point accuracy. Our starting SG shot less than 40% from the field. Our offense requires good perimeter shooters. I can't see them cutting JB loose.

And it's not like he's going to demand a lot to come back. He's already said he'll be a Rocket or he's going to retire.

There's absolutely no harm in bringing him back at the vet's minimum.

Believe me, I'm not saying they should get rid of Barry, I just think he's the odd man out. Unless they sign a two or three, they need Wesley, they like James alot, and who is gonna take Sura off their hands with his health? There are only so many roster spots. Barry, as much as he brings in intangibles is still a body off the bench. They have other issues they need to address.
