Bobby Sura IS the difference maker. The only thing we lost in the T-Mac trade was Cato and an aging Mobley. Sura does everything that Francis did, but Sura makes better decisions, and commits less turnovers, and when he gets the ball up top he does something with it rather then take 15 dribbles and end up in the same exact spot to take a contested fadeaway that was an open shot before you decided to dribble. GEEZ, the more I think about Steve's game the more I believe the trade was definitely a winner for us, and adding Sura makes it even better.

I can't believe we're still taking cheap shots at Steve so long after he left. Sad.

name one thing Francis does better than Sura. They shoot about the same, Sura's a better rebounder, a better passer, a better defender....etc.

Bob Sura has become a huge part of the Rockets and a big portion of the heart of the team. However, Steve is still and elite player and superstar and better player.

Im not tryin to diss Steve at all, he played haard every night, unlike 80% of the players in the NBA, but i was just stating how I think that Sura is better than Francis was for us.

Francis is a better shooter, driver, ball handler, better first step, more athletic and a better defender.

No freakin way is Francis a better shooter, at least last year he wasn't. I know Sura isn't a great shooter either, but its neither one of their strong points. If there is one thing he does better, than penetration is it, although Sura is an outstanding penetrator as well. Steve was not a good ball handler at all, and it show in his TO's. He is more athletic, but thats not a stat, and Steve's not a good defender at all either.

If Francis were here with T-Mac and Yao, we would have been much better than now.

Sura is a good role player. However, please don't praise Sura by sniping at Francis.

Steve is a much better shooter than Sura, he is a better ball handler than Sura, he just made some boneheaded plays sometime. Last year he made leaps and bounds defensively and is a better defender than Sura, especially since Sura has a bum knee and is not that quick because of it.

I feel the same about Steve now as I did when he was here.

The good: He's an amazing athlete with a big heart and a lot of fun to watch. He more than makes up for the turnovers with the rest of his play.

The bad: He's got a chip on his shoulder you normally don't see with elite athletes, and it's hard to figure out why. And as great a player as he is, I don't think he'll ever EVER be on an NBA championship team.

I agree. Sura is much less frustrating to watch than Francis. He plays better D, and takes and makes timely shots. And what I like most of all about him is he keeps it real.

    one on one Francis wins

but dollar for dollar - (with Tmac and Yao as the main offense), there is an arguement for Sura

But my post wasn't about Steve's oncourt antics now was it? Those that have seen me post last year know I've been one of the biggest proponents to getting Steve shipped out of town, precisely because of his weakness are just as significant as his strength.

But despite his weakness, he played hard for the Rockets every night and left it all on the court. In variably somebody's probably gonna bring up the Superbowl incident, so yeah, I'm disappointed in him about that too, but he still was all heart.

So I have no idea what this thread is doing here. If one wants to bash Steve, there are about 5 million other threads to do that. Yeah Steve is immature and often contradict himself, so what? Yeah he's turnover prone and make boneheaded mistakes, who cares? Yeah he's a bad spot shooter and can't run a fast break to save his life. None of that is our problem now is it?

If people want to have a post to praise Sura, be my guest. He definitely deserves it the way he's playing lately. But don't bring Steve into it. Move on. Otherwise we'll sound as sour grapes as those Orlando fans.

It's a very weak one. Francis can break down any guard one on one. While the only thing Sura can break down is his back.

Sura was never as good as he's been playing lately. One has to wonder how long he can keep this up, or why he didn't play like this before?

By your logic, Sura is also better than T-Mac. He has a better fg% but T-Mac is slightly better at shooting 3s. If you look at their per 48 minute stats, Sura outrebounds and gets more assists than T-Mac. I then looked at Francis per 48 minute stats and he gets 2 more assists than Sura and .1 less rebounds.

This season, Sura is shooting better overall than both T-Mac and Steve, but T-Mac and Steve have better career numbers in those areas.

Francis is much better player overall, he can create his own shot, that's the difference between elite players and good player. No match here.
