Losers , Literally, filing the law suits including Alan Keyes.

CHICAGO — The U.S. Supreme Court will consider Friday whether to take up a lawsuit challenging President-elect Barack Obama's U.S. citizenship, a continuation of a New Jersey case embraced by some opponents of Obama's election.

The meeting of justices will coincide with a vigil by the filer's supporters in Washington on the steps of the nation's highest court.

The suit originally sought to stay the election, and was filed on behalf of Leo Donofrio against New Jersey Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells.

Legal experts say the appeal has little chance of succeeding, despite appearing on the court's schedule. Legal records show it is only the tip of an iceberg of nationwide efforts seeking to derail Obama's election over accusations that he either wasn't born a U.S. citizen or that he later renounced his citizenship in Indonesia.

The Obama campaign has maintained that he was born in Hawaii, has an authentic birth certificate, and is a "natural-born" U.S. citizen. Hawaiian officials agree.

Among those filing lawsuits is Alan Keyes, who lost to Obama in the 2004 Illinois Senate race. Keyes' suit seeks to halt certification of votes in California. Another suit by a Kentucky man seeks to have a federal judge review Obama's original birth certificate, which Hawaiian officials say is locked in a state vault.

Other suits have been filed by Andy Martin, whose case was dismissed in Hawaii, and by an Ohio man whose case also was dismissed. Five more suits, all later dismissed, were filed in Hawaii by a person who is currently suing the "Peoples Association of Human, Animals Conceived God/s and Religions, John McCain (and) USA Govt." The plaintiff previously sought to sue Wikipedia and "All News Media."

The most famous case questioning Obama's citizenship was filed in Pennsylvania in August on behalf of Philip J. Berg and sought to enjoin the Democratic National Committee from nominating Obama. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to accept the case. Earlier, a federal judge rejected it for "lack of standing" — ruling that Berg had no legal right to sue. In cases like this, judges sometimes believe the matter is best left to political institutions, such as the Electoral College or Congress, said legal scholar Eugene Volokh of the University of California at Los Angeles.

The remaining case with the highest profile is Donofrio vs. Wells. Because it was distributed by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to other justices for conference, it gained undue importance for people unschooled in how the court works, Volokh said.

Many petitioners seeking stays of pending events have their cases distributed to the full court, he said. Of those, Volokh found that 782 were denied in the last eight years while just 60 were heard — and not all of those ultimately were successful.

reading the comments on that story cracked me up. you know that liberal media would hate such a juicy story like a democratic nominee for the president of the united states not actually being a us citizen. tha's why you never heard any press about bill clinton and john edwards marital affiars, rev. wright, bill ayers, and other "sordid" rumors about democratic politicians.

One of the nominees was born in Hawaii and the other in Panama. These fools are questioning the citizenship of the one born in Hawaii.

LOL yes they all just heard about all this through word-of-mouth. The reason why they "hate" a juicy story that you read about in the chronicle from the Chicago Tribune is that it is the pet theory of crackpot wingnut morons. This lawsuit is the equivalent of the lawsuit to stop CERN from destroying the universe by turning on the large hadron collider.

As for what the Supreme Court does - two words: cert denied.

(that means the crackpot wingnut morons lose)

Yeah, I mean a full month of nonstop coverage of Rev. Wright in March and two years of coverage about Bill Clinton's affairs was clearly just not enough.

Who? The Supreme Court? How f***ing stupid do they have to be to take this case on? All it does is empower the idiots to file more frivolous suits by just considering the case. It makes absolutely no sense to me that they would give this crap merit by taking it on.

I want to sue the Supreme Court for wasting our time.

This is a RIDICULOUS waste of tax payers dollars...they have better things to look into.

Like finding out if Clemens DNA was in those needles supplied by McNamee.

I misread that. Doesn't change the fact that they give merit to this stupidity by considering it.

Couldn't this all disappear in less than a minute if Obama would release his original birth certificate to the media? I am guessing he originally didn't do it wat back when these issues first cropped up so as not to give credence to frivilous challenges. It just seems like he ought to go ahead, step in and say "enough is enough, let's not waste any more time, here is the original certificate".

Don't forget about 6 years of Whitewater, which never turned into much. IIRC there were 200 plus NYT stories.

No, why would that do it? He has released valid proof of his birth, and Hawaii has certified his birth certificate as valid and legal.

If legal certification and valid documents don't work in one instance why would these same people accept them in a different instance?

There is a legal standard of proof Obama has to provide to prove his birth and citizenship. He has done that. It is not up to him to provide some other legal proof.

Not really. The job of the Courts is to consider stuff, to give everyone an opportunity to be heard-- and then dismiss (as they often do) those that have no merit.

Lots of stupid stuff gets considered by the court. That doesn't mean any of this has even a smidgeon of merit, just that the system gives people an opportunity to be heard before telling them to take the stupid **** out of there.

let's not waste anymore time, he's our president, don't blame him for this crap. him giving in to these clowns sets a bad precedent, what will they ask for next. the state has already confirmed they have the original anyway.

Your mom being American isn't enough for President under the Constitution. You have to be a natural born citizen. Meaning you have to be born in the States.

the republicans used their lewinsky leverage an white water leverage to push through some last minute bills through congress, including deregulation. i'm convinced of this, and I'm not excusing bill clinton for signing those bills that have contributed to the current economic mess.
