Local legends UGK new self titled album came out today. It is a double disk, only 9.99, and comes with a bonus dvd. Any fan of rap should buy this album, not download it but buy it. The reviews have been good. allmusic.com review
LOL..."Support Port Arthur Legends" would be more accurate. But they're a huge part of the Houston rap scene, so I guess they can still count.
Area "hip hop" legends. Would depend on how high you rank hip hop to begin with...there could be some area Spanish recording artists that are legends but I wouldnt know cuz I'm not familiar with that kind of music.
thought this was gonna be something about injured former professional sports players or something, d'oh!
Support the REAL Houston legends...Hakeem, Clyde, Otis, Sam, Vernon, Mario, Kenny, and Robert!! - tinman
These guys are local legends for sure. They along with Screw put Houston rap scene on the map. Free Pimp C! (ok, he is already free but I felt like saying it)
UGK has not been tight since the early 90's and in Jay's Big pimpin. I am so sick of southern rap. Houston and other southern rap is pure garbage. To each his/her own though but I am not buying it.
shame that so many mtv hiphoppers cant pay respect to the all time greats. like it or not UGK are legends. Any rapper worth his salt would pay much respect to UGK...and have. But hiphop has turned away from true life thug rap to frat/sorority girl and dance club music with no soul south rap sucks? lol. what a ignorant thing to say given all the greats that have come from the south.
If you buy the special edition from Best Buy, it comes with an extra song. I've been a big UGK fan for the longest. A few skip songs, but overall I like the CD.
By the way, I think that prison time messed with Pimp C. He has some sort of weird obsession with other people's sexual preference lately.
Have not payed attention to ANY hip hop thugs talking about crime and passion since the originals: At night I can't sleep... I toss and turn...
Ghetto Boys/Scarface, Luda (sometimes), Outkast...Those are talented southern artists; alot of the rest of garbage. Give me your greats that have come from the south? Don't give me Young Cheezie and Slim Thug, or ying yang twins or paul wall either. Like I said, to each his/her own but I can't stand southern rap. It's mainly yelling and screaming and trying to make it rhyme over some beats that get people moving. The lyrical content is garbage and usually all over the place. There's no story and reason to most of the songs but to get "Krunk". In fact P-Diddy and Ca$h $ crew are the ones I blame for the decline of hip-hop. They took hip-hop from the glory years of Pac and Biggie to the bling bling, industry formulaic bull$hit we hear today. UGK was tight back in '92 with tracks like "tell me something good" and pocket full of stones".
so you are saying that supertight wasnt a great CD (which came out in 94)...no good songs on that CD? Please. take that nonsense somewhere else DId you just mention luda as a great south rapper?!? lol. thats laughable
