Supposedly, John McClain mentioned on 610 this morning that the NFL had unofficially stated that Superbowl XLIV(44) would be in Houston in 2010. Has anyone heard anything in reference to this? It will be cool to see Janet Jackson perform the remix of the remix of Rhythm Nation.
yes...i've john and others say that the decision makers were very impressed with houston..that they were definitely coming back..it's booked through 2008...2009 will probably be on the west coast...and then back to houston around 2010.
At the Houston Salute, the commissioner said maybe 2009 or 2010 . I haven't heard anything official. I hope so, it was a fun week.
That would be cool...I've heard nothing but great things, except from the a-hole out-of-town journalist's...
I would really like to hear what the out of town fans thought of our fair city... I wish there was some kind of survey results or something. I wouldn't mind seeing the SB here in town again. I mean, it was great recognition for our city. Too bad the Rockets lost both home games during that time!?
Yes and they start accepting entries right after the super bowl. i.e. Next years Super Bowl ticket entries can be sent in starting today
The face value is $500, so if you had the opportunity to buy tickets, would you? I'm not talking about scalping, I mean actually use the tickets. That's crazy yall.
I thought Houston was great rockHEAD. Really nice city. Friendly people. The pollution and sprawl of the city is a bit of a drag, but a fine city nonetheless.
I saw some interviews on the news with some fans from Boston...they had nice things to say about the hospitality and the facilities. They said that they would recommend to anyone to come visit. Most of the commentators and over-air journalists had lots of nice things to say about their stay and how much fun it was. Overall...Simmons not withstanding....everyone seemed to enjoy themselves A good week for Houston.
I spoke with a hotel rep in Galveston last week and he also said we'd have another super bowl within the decade. He'd know because the Galveston resorts have to be included in planning for Houston to submit a bid to host.
My predictions: 2009 - San Diego 2010 - Houston 2011 - Tampa 2012 - New Orleans I only spaced out New Orleans and Houston because the NFL likes to alternate their "indoor" Super Bowls (although Houston could be outdoors), and also because they're relatively close to one another geographically. Of course, if San Diego can't get a new stadium any time soon, they'll lose their spot in the rotation... despite their awesome weather. The only "locks" in the rotation are New Orleans and Miami, with Tampa getting an occasional 10 year look-in. Cities on the cusp of making the new rotation are Houston and Arizona, who must prove to be better hosts in 2007 than they were back in 1996. Of course, if Dallas ever builds Jerry's 1 billion pleasure-palace, they'll be assured of the big game for years.
A great week for the city. The whole hype involved with a Super Bowl is silly yet fun. The city definitely put on a hell of a party for everyone who flew here for the game, and I believe we will get into the rotation because of it. I personally did not run into any celebrities during the week, but I did run into alot of Pats and Cats fans who came in for the week and all of them had nothing but positives to say about H-town.
Los Angeles is eventually going to be a common location. Eventually, somebody is going to get a stadium built out there and get a team. (T.J. Simers is pretty sure it'll be the Colts, so I'm pretty sure it won't be the Colts).
When are we getting the Final Four? Isn't it 2011? Maybe the NBA gives Houston the All Star Game in 2011 also. That way, we get the Super Bowl in January, the NBA All Star Game in Februrary, and The NCAA Final Four in March.
