I can hardly wait 'til its here! In fact, I've already scheduled the week off leading up to Super Sunday! I have no "connections" to get into any of the super bowl parties, etc. BUT I'm gonna soak up the atmosphere and party like a VIP baybeee!:) I have friends and relatives coming down to party w/ me also. I'm thinking about renting out my place for the week at a ridiculously high price tag. It's VERY tempting from what I hear people are willing to pay.:D So what's your Super Bowl plans? Or is it too early to even think about? Will the streets around downtown be done in time to handle the influx of our out-of-town guests? That would sux if we got a bad rep becuz of stuff like that and we lose out being in the Super Bowl site rotation like we hoped to be in.

After last night's traffic incident, I fear the Super Bowl's repurcussions.

But I will be trying my damndest to crash any parties.

I don't know, I think it's great and all but I'm just not too excited about a bunch of middle aged corporate fat-cats using our city as a gigantic urinal for 2 weeks and then talking about how dirty it is on their way out.

But the good news is my band has made the final cut for a few big money gigs that week.

The Fat-cats will more likely be at the "Foo-foo" shin digs that us mere mortals cannot get into. It's the regular "Joe Schmo" that I'd be more worried about using my lawn as a urinal.......;)

Still, this IS a big thing for H-Town. This is a chance to show the country that we're NOT just another backward, cowboy southern city! BUT we better keep them away from Pasadena just in case......:D

I'll be at the Super Bowl this year, compliments of work (hell yeah!). If any of you guys wanna meet me in person, head over to the Topps booth (a day or two before the game) during the NFL Experience show thingy. I should be there handing out free cards.

Was it Topps that has that football All-American set that's out right now.

I have the complete set of the football All-Americans with Jim Thorpe and the Four Horsemen.

Is it a throwback card desigh? Do you have any info on that set.

By the way...I've been out of card collecting for a while...is Finest still Topps's top of the line set, or is there a new set that's better.

    Not to derail the thread....

Now you're confusing me. Are you referring to the actual 1955 All-American set or 2003 Topps All American Football? If you're talking about the 2003 set (released this year), then I definitely have info on the set, seeing as I picked the players, images, autograph subjects, and relic subjects for the product (along with helping approve the design). What would you like to know about the product? The set consists of 100 veterans and 50 rookie cards (along with the usual assortment of autos and relics). The design closely mirrors the 1955 design (but is not exact). Also, whereas in the original set the background photo depicted random players and NOT the main card subject, I decided to include background photos of the actual player on the card (making it more like an eTopps card). (However, all rookies have a generic background.)

All in all, I think it's a pretty sweet set. "Heritage" type products really sell well for us.

Finest is indeed high end, but, at least in the case of football, Topps Pristine Football (introduced last year) is now the top football product. For baseball, I believe Topps Tribute is the top-of-the-line product. (As for basketball and hockey, eh, who cares... :) )

And I'm sure Ill probaly spot a few celabrities so Ill have my camera in hand. Im going to predict that there is going to be a ton of "i met ____" there should be a ton of interesting threads that week. I'm defintely going to all the MTV events those are always fun to watch.

I go with a group of friends to Vegas every year for the Super Bowl.

I may go to Houston this year instead....would love to go to the actual game at least ONCE in my life.

I actually applied for general public tix. I got my confirmation that I was entered into the drawing about a month ago. I should be finding out if I get tickets in the next couple of months. If I don't I'll probably just have a bunch of people over to my house because I am too lazy to drive into Houston just to look around for parties to crash.

Anyone know if parking passes can be purchased to tailgate at Reliant, if you can't attend the game?
