I thought EXACTLY the same thing.

To me, the HUGE difference was:

    1. No lip-sync-ing (as opposed to the Star Spangled Banner  )
    2. No medelies. Nothing is worse than the hurriedly thrown together mish mash of songs. Play one great song (or two). You don't need to be everything to everyone.
    3. No FADE OUTS! Nothing looks more ridiculous than a band that fades out on stage like on a record. ...just slowly back away from the mic... I HATE THAT!

That was the kind of halftime that we musicians can FINALLY be proud of!!!

    :D

i agree jeff...medleys blind me with rage. I don't remember what year it was, but i think third eye blind rapped with some geezer hip hoppers one year...i seriously wanted to punch somebody.

When Bono opened his jacket, revealing the american flag print lining...brought a tear to my eye. sniff! It was also awesome how he "sampled" that beatles song..."Loveeee love love"

U2 just rocks, plain and simple.

I am in awe of Bono. I want to be that cool.

Definitely the best halftime show ever. We threw a party, like most the rest of America, and the entire room, which had been noisier than the already deafening television, was silent throughout the performance.

Awesome.

    Halftime was great...

The list of names shown behind the band, pulled a few heart strings.

Then to close with "Where The Streets Have No Name" from one of their most "American" albums The Joshua Tree (Rattle Hum being the other) was very moving.

And of course... the flag lined jacket Bono wore, was sort of an "America is close to my heart" sort of feeling...

    top notch halftime show.

U2 has done an NBA Championship (via satellite) and now a Superbowl... The Stanley Cup and The World Series are next!!!

Behad, I watched Fear Factor cause I'm sick of U2, and, well I didn't have control of the remote . The best stunt was actually after the game when the playmates had to replicate being stuck in water under ice.

Also, the Malcolm in the Middle was pretty sweet after the game.

At least you didn't pay $80 to see it live

It was nothing new for those who saw the Elevation Tour :)

So who was that chick that got stuck under the water first. She was absolutely hot. Very competitive too. I also liked the quiet chick. The frozen water had an impact on that girl's thing-a-ma-jigs.
