Anyone not watching this should, find it on FX. Link 'Sunny' keeps shining on FX Net brings back laffer for third season By DENISE MARTIN FX has greenlit 15 new half-hours of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” to begin production next spring, up from 10 last season. FX is bringing back critically acclaimed laffer "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" for a third season. Danny DeVito has committed to continue as a series regular for all subsequent seasons. Renewal makes "Sunny" the most successful comedy on basic cable in recent years. Skein is one of the few scripted, live-action primetime laffers to make it to a third season on ad-supported cable. FX has greenlit 15 new half-hours to begin production next spring for a premiere in summer. Order reps an increase from 10 episodes last season and seven in the first. Though ratings for the last season were modest relative to those of FX's other originals, "Sunny" posted year-to-year gains and earned critical raves. Second season averaged 1.3 million total viewers and 880,000 adults 18-49, up 15% and 18%, respectively, from the show's first season. Over each episode's four-run cume, skein delivered 3.1 million viewers overall on average and 2.1 million in the 18-49 demo. "Sunny," which stars Charlie Day, Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton and Kaitlin Olson, centers on the misadventures of four friends who own a bar in Philadelphia. DeVito joined the cast in the second season as the clingy dad of Dennis (Howerton) and Sweet Dee (Olson), who attempts to recapture his youth by hanging out with his kids. Role reps DeVito's first regular TV series gig since "Taxi." Should "Sunny" last beyond next year, DeVito has agreed to remain as a cast member through season six. He'll shoot his scenes for the upcoming season over a couple of two- to three-week periods this spring. FX produces "Sunny." Exec producers are McElhenney, Howerton, Day, Michael Rotenberg, Nick Frenkel and John Fortenberry.
This really is the funniest show on tv right now since Arrested was cancelled. I love the hell out of the Office and think it's great, but this show is on another level. I think what I love the most is how they handle hot button issues. One example that always comes to mind is the abortion episode where the only thing really guiding the guys is which side has hotter chicks and when one changes his mind and tries to climb over the fence to get to the other side, he gets pelted with eggs for "straddling the fence." I'm glad it's on FX too, because I think their looser standards on language and topics give them the freedom they need to make the show funny, yet still be available on regular cable or dish.
You can watch it online here: http://www.bleenks.com/show/22/Its-Always-Sunny-in-Philadelphia Just started watching it a couple of weeks ago.
I caught on to this show late, started watching midway through the 2nd season. It's a funny show, often very funny. Glad to see their not only getting a third season, but a longer third season.
That is great show. It has been a darker world during its current hiatus. I can't wait to start seeing the episodes again.
No kidding, I've been watching since the show first started and its one of the only summer shows I ever really miss. Great to hear they got another season!
The new season starts in September, but you can watch a whole new ep right now on Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/sunnyfx Also, they have a vid up on Funny or Die about Danny Devito's contract. <object id="myFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="464" height="380" wmode="transparent" data="http://www2.funnyordie.com/public/flash/fodplayer.swf?1184075980&ratename=CHOSEN+ONE&rating=3.75&ratedby=2&canrate=no&VID=12169&file=http://www2.funnyordie.com/60d14b6331.flv&autoStart=false&key=60d14b6331"><param name="movie" value="http://www2.funnyordie.com/public/flash/fodplayer.swf?1184075980&ratename=CHOSEN+ONE&rating=3.75&ratedby=2&canrate=no&VID=12169&file=http://www2.funnyordie.com/60d14b6331.flv&autoStart=false&key=60d14b6331" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="swliveconnect" value="true" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www2.funnyordie.com/public/flash/fodplayer.swf?1184075980" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" scale="noScale" salign="TL" bgcolor="#000000" flashvars="ratename=CHOSEN+ONE&rating=3.75&ratedby=2&canrate=no&VID=12169&file=http://www2.funnyordie.com/60d14b6331.flv&autoStart=false&key=60d14b6331" allowfullscreen="true" height="380" width="464"></embed><a href="http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/60d14b6331">Danny DeVito & The Contract</a></object>
The Mac/PC commercials have been awesome! "Sweet, you got rid of Mac! He's too hairy." "I knew there was a reason I was here." "I'm P.C. Post-coital. Now grab a bucket and wash my balls."
I cant wait, FYI the DVD for the other seasons come out the same day season threee premeirs on FX.. NEXT TUESDAY!! Some of my favorite quotes from the show.. "I'll eat your babies b****!" "Cant you see how r****ded she is?" "We just got out of the shower." "WOW, hold up, did you just say "we"?" "I'll punch you in your monkey face!" "Go for it, go for it.."
I can't wait to buy the DVDs, I love this show and can't wait for season 3 to start! If you haven't already watched the episode up on myspace I recommend you do, its quality stuff!!
Ditto what everyone else has said so far. Arrested and this show have been far and away the best comedies in recent years. Glad to see Sunny is still going.
Wow, I didn't expect them to be able to keep the show going as original as it started, but watching that pre-air show was great. The ending had me laughing my ass off. Looking forward to the next season.
That was a great episode. I'm really excited for this show coming back. FX has an unbelievable track record on shows. Unlike almost all other networks (except for HBO and Showtime) almost every one of their shows are great. Considering the crap that most other networks put out (Cavemen, etc), it's really impressive.
